E63/e55

Hi Guys

Have looked at other M-B forums for comments on E63 vs E55, and see it goes both ways. Anyone here have any direct experience with going from an E55 to the E63?

I had an SL55 prior to my GT3, and loved the engine (and the car in total, frankly). Looking for a replacement for my wife's S8.

I have an '03 E55 available at $50K, 47K miles on it. It's CPO'd. From my review at Edmunds and AutoTrader, seems a very nice price.

And I'm not looking for an M5, only the E63 or the E55.

I had e55 and it was a blast! down low torque was awesome but it was always fighting for traction, didnt drive E63 only ML63 but the power and speed sound reminded me of e55, I'd suggest go with E63 it has improved chasis, and if you will be driving 80% around town and hwys e63 will not dissapoint you.

P.s on the other hand e55 + 5-8k in mods will make it a shweeeeeeet car to punch around too. E55 kompressor engine is one of the friendliest mod engines ever.

I would go for the E55.. it has better mod capability, you will save some GOOD money and its not a sports car, so the added suspension capability really means nothing considering its not a huge difference. E63 looks great, but you can always add aesthetics, E55 is still amazing to me!

I agree, there was a thread of an E55 converted to E63 exterior at mbworld.

If you plan on mods go for the 55. K2 is Sierra Hotel. WARNING the 55 eats rear tires like candy.

I think we understood that from your post! Get the E63, it looks better and has updated and more sporty (at least for a MB) suspension tuning...The E55 is based on a very old engine design..3 valves per cylinder, with a supercharger slapped onit..The 63 engine was built and conceived from the ground up by AMG
