Ok, seems like the price on these are very similar on the used car market. SL600 is the turbo V12, sl55 is the supercharged V8. 2004 is the year I am looking at, $60's-low $70's is the price I am finding. What do I need to look out for? Seems like performance should be the same on both with the V12 having more torque. And it looks like the sl600 had the higher sticker price when new.

 

Sl55 = lighter and sports car.
SL600= More of an everyday-er.

 

My dad has a 2007 SL600 and that thing is really awesome. Nothing like a V12!

 

SL55 - You can barely tell the SL600 from the SL500 at a quick glance

 

i like all the amgs models! go with the amg!

 

Turbo is always better than Supercharged.

 

I'm also on the hunt, but for the SL 55 AMG (since my TT satifies my need for forced induction).

 

But if you are going to tune the car, I would go with the 600, just more options IMO

 

sl55 will be easier to sell when your done with it.

 

I prefer the SL55 just for its AMG bodykit and quad exhausts

 

SL55 is forced induction there Mr Wizard.

SL55. Out of the box is a better car.

Sl600 if you plan on modding it. Renntech makes a neat little chip that puts it over 600hp/700tq for next to nothing.

 

SL55 for pure enjoyment, and eventual resale value.

 

Well, ive owned the CL600 and the CL55 and i prefer the CL55 it was sportier, but the 600 was smoother, and like mentioned above besides the v12 on the side the CL600 and CL500 (much the like the SL) are very similar...go with the AMG

 

600 for sure faster, Cheaper to mod when bored with a Ecu/Tcu upgrade for 70hp and Eisenmann Sport exhaust and Green filters looking at 95hp or more.

 

I'd pick the 55. Better all around package.
