Great phone! I have three of 'em. Pretty good price. Many people may not know that this is the 8800 not the 8801. The 8801 is the cheaper US version of the 8800 world phone. Price is approximately double for the 8800...

AFAIK, the only difference is that that 8801 has 850, 900, 1900 bands, and 8800 has 900, 1800, 1900 bands.

8801 is quite worthless outside the U.S. since most don't use the 900 band any more.

8800 is very useful everywhere in the world except when you are in some middle of nowhere land USA where the GSM is at 850. I found this out when my MIL's 900/1800/1900 phone won't work at her house in the country side of MA, but our Razr did.

I don't think you will find anything looking better than the 8800. My only complaint with it is that it is a bit heavy. Plus Nokia's are as reliable as coals burning in the stove

correction: the 8801 has 850/1800/1900 band, not 900...that's a big difference.

You are correct. I just double checked the specs.

Then the 8801 actually is probably more useful than the 8800.

When I was traveling in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, all the SIM cards that I got were for 1800 and not 900.

China however, is 900.

It is simply retarded though, that the 88xx isn't quad like the Razr. Because it truely is a much better phone than the damn Razr with crap for battery life.

Most countries now other than US will use 1800 so the 8801 is a great all around phone. If you're going to be spending most of your time using it in the US, the 8801 is definitely a better phone to go with.
