Looking for a canon or nikon digital SLR...something "entry level" preferably 8MP but will take a look at 6's as well.

Digital Rebel XT's and such would be great

Nikon has just introduced D40x. Pretty good prices. Might want to check it out on their website.

 

can get you pretty good pricing on the d40x body around $650 or so. lens pricing varies.

 

I just got the Nikon D200 w/ 18-200 Nikkor lens. Love it. May be overkill for semi-casual pro-sumers. D80 may be next best bet.

 

I have a D80 at the office and two D70s for personal use. They're fairly easy to use and make me look like a pretty good photographer. EBay has tons of D70 at good prices - if you want brand new for cheap, Wolf has the D50 and D40 at what I think are very reasoable prices.

 

I use a canon 350d (rebel) and I love it you should take a look at the newer model though, 400d got some upgrades and other goodies

thanks for all the replies guys. as it so happens i actually bothered to use some of my VISA rewards points and the Canon Digital Rebel XTi was on the list so i'm set for now.
