Help w/ decision SWAP 03 9964S for 02 996TT
Ok, I've got a chance to swap out my 2003 996 C4S for a 2002 996 TT. Here's the breakdown so I'm interested in hearing pro's and con's guys.....
My car - 2003 996 C4S w/ 39,800 miles, 6-spd, Bose, Sunroof, Xenons, PSM, CD Player, Heated Seats (basics, no carbon fiber or any other real adds, etc). It's Lapis Blue/Grey w/ a Misha Wing, H&R Springs, Fabspeed Muffler Bypass Pipes (with original exhaust), 19" Champion RG5B's w/ a fresh set of 245/315 Toyo Proxes on them. I also have a CPO extended through August 2010 I believe.
The "SWAP" 2002 996 TT w/ 64,607 miles, Techart Fixed Rear Wing, Saddle Interior Trim 6-Disc CD Changer, Champion Wheels, Memory Seats, Bose, Painted Center Console, 6-spd, PSM, Xenons, and Sunroof to name the most important.
Basically, he's willing to swap for my car PLUS $~8,000. I'm willing to swap for my car plus $3,000. Am I making a good deal???

Your car is still bringing in the quid. Is this by chance through Intersport? They have a hard time keeping the C4s around. The mileage for the buck you are going for isn't my cup of tea. Unless it has the springs and wheels you want, you WILL be dipping deeper into the well. Strictly my .02.
What are a used set of turbos going for? What can we get you turn key turbo'ed in your current ride as a sleeper?

Scott - I agree with you and that's why I'm debating still. I want the power of a turbo, but hell, another 25K miles and one year older scares me. It's already got basically the exact same champions as my car........at times, I'm happy w/ the C4S, but then when I run w/ you TT guys, I feel like I'm driving a VW (figuratively speaking)....ahahaha
I'm now getting less inclined to do the whole SC thing to make it a sleeper b/c another friend of mine up north did it for his 4S and said it cost him about $20,000 to literally get it working perfectly.....that's way more coin than I'm willing to spend on an uncertainty non-OEM kit.....I'd rather splurge on the TT.
I was thinking of Intake, Plenum and Chip as a quick solution for some more pep and focusing the rest of the $$$ on becoming a BETTER DRIVER!!!

Turboing a C4s isn't a real good idea. The standard 996 motor is so much cheaper to repair and replace for a reason. And the mileage difference really isn't that great between the two... Your car is clean, but you're talking a LOT more car for not a lot more money, especially with that offer... I'd consider it a "great deal" on your car and $5K (and maybe keep your wheels and sell them separately)...
What color is the Turbo?

probably a good deal considering how hard it is to sell a car right now. If you could easily unload the 4s, I'd do that and spend a few more bucks for a lower mileage tt. Definitely avoid the supercharger route. With the cost of these cars so low right now, it just seems to make way more sense to start with a stock tt that is bulletproof from the factory.
Berk, I haven't been following the market recently. If you would have asked this question six months ago I could have rattled an answer in 10 minutes. What do TT's like his go for vs your car? Wat do lower mileage TT's go for? To me this is just a matter of addition and subtraction and deciding if the deal is favorable.
I just checked Manheim, and according to them, there is only a $2K retail difference not considering mods and options. But I don't know if I trust that site to be a good gauge.

Def dont SC that, it will hurt the value and cost you a ton. I would look for a lower mile TT if I were going to do the swap. The TT are scary cheap now which is surprising because they are such an awesome car for that money.
Warning about the TT, if you do get it that 8k is only the begining. Now being in my 3rd pcar, the TT was 100x more mod friendly (with actual results) than the two NA's. 1k for 80 hp, sure! 2500 for 100 more, sure! Exhaust 35 hp, 2k gone, wastegates 400, for a few more sure.. Its endless but, its awesome and you cant ask for a more bulletproof platform.

Guys, thanks. My only apprehension was the mileage on the TT. It's Lapis Blue just like my car w/ the Tan interior. Sharp car, my boxster had the same color scheme and I like it.
Allen - you're a ******bag....:ahahahaha, you too Scott.....hahahahahahahaha
j/k guys.
