Question Need Help Picking 5-Point Harness Seats

Hey Guys,

Need some help, I just got the Tequipment Roll-Bar w/ Cross-Brace installed yesterday and absolutely LOVE IT!!! I'd like to start getting back on the track for some HPDE's and FATT's towards the end of the year and next year for sure. That being said, I'd like to get some racing seats for the car, but am not sure what to get. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I've checked OGRacing, and here's what they got for Sparco. Not sure about Kirkey, etc. Any thoughts:

Anyone have a pair they are looking to unload as well? Thanks guys.

Berk

One must be a racer to obtain such equipment, or have said knowledge and/or track experience.

Drag race or open track? I would do seats with belts so you know they are compatible.

^^^Yes, for sure, I was just about to post that I need the suggestions for both seat and harnesses/belts. I think 6 point is overkill for my application. This is for Open Track......I don't see much of a drag racing future in the 4S....

Check Dorki. Those guys will give you the skinny.

The roll cage in the car for normal street driving is not very safe in an accident. You have a much greater chance of a head injury. Food for thought. That is why I took mine out.

Hey Gunther, will do bud, I like those Dorki guys. Are you serious about the head injuries??? Probably right if not wearing a helmet, but the thing is I have the tequipment rollbar, not the full cage. I would think that would be a huge risk for Porsche to sell these rollbars that could cause serious head injuries. Knock on wood, we should all be safe out there guys!!!

Berk do becareful with the OEM Porsche rollbar I've heard stories about how unsafe and useless they are over on RL.

I was going to grab a DAS rollbar for the 996 since there highly reputable and the GT3 folks seem to favor them.

As far as seats any reason your not considering the OEM Euro GT3 seats apart from your size (just messing) I had them and they were great direct bolt on - I'd even help you install them.

Berk I'm very serious about the head injury comment. It was discussed at length on 6 as well as rennlist.

I don't think there's such thing as 5 points belts specific seats. Every racing seats (with hard shell backs) has a hole for a sub belts and they are big enough to use both 5 and 6 points belts.

Also, what do you think 6 point harnesses are overkill? It's only 1 more click after you clicking in 5 times with 5 points. Besides, in the event of an accident, your ***** will hurt with 5 points.

^^^I've read through the threads extensively. My ***** will for sure hurt with the 5 point man.....my ***** hurt from just being married....>HAHAHAHAHAHAAH LMAO!!!! J/K if my wife is looking.

Right now, my set up is not ideal whatsoever......The concern is the collapsing of the seat (retractable). Here's the thing, doesn't the cross bar prevent that in a rear end collision? I know that if it is a REALLY intense rear end collision, I would run the risk of a more violent movement in the cabin potentially hitting my head on the bar. A lot to think about, wish I looked in to this before, but am now looking in to some Recaro or Euro GT3 seats. Thanks for the heads up as well Mick on the Euro GT3's. There's some used ones for a decent price here.

Berk if you do decide to go with the Euro GT3 seats (highly recommended) make sure that they are OEM and not replicas - this is important.

Make sure that RECARO is on the back of them and that the Porsche crest is embedded on the seats. I purchased mine from Suncoast.

Gluck!
