2010 Steeplechase season and drives

The 2010 Steeplechase season kicks off this year with the Casanova Hunt point to point races at Buckland Farm just South of Gainesville, VA the last weekend of February. The different Hunts of Northern Virginia will sponsor races every weekend through the Spring at various venues in the Virginia countryside.

We started doing drives from the PCA club breakfasts when they coincided last year BUT This year, I'd like to coordinate some 6Speed drives out to some races.

Berk ? Perhaps we could latch this up with morning coffee meets then cruise out for a day of races through some Virginia twisties ? The sooner we setup individual drives the better as we may be provided special parking or even rail-side parking for tailgating.

Anyone interested in doing this ?

Nate - LOVE the idea. I'm in buddy!!! I'm a big fan of the steeplechase races. Used to go to them in NJ all the time. Big equestrian fan here.

Let me know the dates (call me off line if necessary) and we plan accordingly. As of right now, you have a Twin Turbo'd C4S confirmed.

Alright well this one is real easy if you coordinate it with coffee meets... We'll plan on taking a group off from there on the morning of Saturday, February 20. The Casanova Hunt Steeplechase is from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm. They have a Facebook Event Page for it here: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/e...964060&index=1

There aren't too many twisties on the way to Buckland farm as it is practically in Gainesville... but that is probably a good thing as it will be the first run out to a race. Other Steeplechases will take us out through great driving e.g. Flint Hill, Sperryville, Upperville, Middleburg etc

What are the chances of getting VIP parking for these events? Would we have to put up some major coinage? These races were always a blast in college (JMU). Would love to do it again.

Gen Pop parking is questionable for us who's bellies rub the ground. Especially on a tweeked hillside.

If we get a list of interest before each Steeplechase then yes I have had some luck getting special reserved/ exotic-safe parking for the group. VIP parking is usually on the rail and costs a bit... but that's up to the individual

Oh and usually when we do things things one rail VIP parking spot can handle a group of friends, so we normally will have a rail spot for a group and all pitch in for food... so that's an option. We shall see how the season goes and if we decide to start doing something like that the we can take turns on who gets to do the rail... (e.g. a Porsche Cayenne makes for a good tailgate vehicle ;-))

Casanova hunt

tomorrow's scheduled steeplechase race has been canceled due to uh.... snow... so... won't be driving out on a fun run...

Looks like the first race of 2010 will be in Berryville with the Blue Ridge Hunt... on 6 March... if its not too wet still...

update 3/6

That would be fine... some of these event will leave from Potomac Porsche Club, some from 6speed coffee GTGs depending on how the schedules mesh... look for more updates to come.
