anyone going to sema this year?
anyone going to sema this year?
I was selected to be a part of the sema opinion leader program... So I'll be flying out with the girlfriend wed nov 2nd, and coming home the corresponding saturday!
If you're not looking for 4-5 star accommodations you can always find cheap rm.s in LV, but there are some unsavory joints in LV so be prepared. And even with the big nice hotels you can find deals with a little notice even SEMA wk. Like last yr. I stayed at Aria and they had good deals b/c it was so new and under-capacity b/c just really opened. Some of the other City Center hotels - other than Aria - may be that same type of deal this yr., Cosmopolitan, Mandarin etc., they weren’t even open last yr. Check them.
I prefer Wynn/Encore or Venetian/ Palazzo. Wynn you'll never get a deal (unless you put 250k or so in a high roller acct. ahead of time), Venetian can still get so so deals I've found SOMETIMES, but usually pretty far out SEMA days.
Trump is 5 star and very nice rooms and can usually get great prices, but no casino and a bit off the strip.
A hotel somewhere near tram is a help getting to and from convention center, else taxis will hit pocket hard AND leaving show you'll wait abt. 3 hr.s for a cab.
ALSO - a little risky last minute move is to get there and do Priceline. If you know how to do Priceline name-own-price and navigate that deal and don't mind the uncertainty, if you do that deal like the day-of your arrival they know they have rooms to either give-away cheap or stay empty. I’ve gone and done that deal and even did like 2 nites one place and 2-3 another and literally can get 50%+ off the posted rates even on 5 stars.
Hilton is the one attached to convention center but is very mediocre place and usually stupid price sema wk. b/c full of corp. people.
