I don't drive the 997tt techart out there during crowded events due to parking off of the black top, in the grass and or mud after a lot of rain. The car is lowered to GT3 height, so I end up scooping mud on every dip : ) I usually take my truck.

MIR is a class "A" venue though -- great new restrooms, food stands, paved pit area, souvenirs for the kids, etc.

 

Should be a fun event! I'm going to try and make it.

 

Another thing, MIR is byob and you can bring a cooler of cans. Avery IPA in cans FTMFW.

 

Honestly I hate that they allow BYOB. It causes a lot of problems for racers at big events. You have all these "kids" drunk off their *** walking around doing stupid ****. People just walk right in front of you when your drive or getting towed to the line or back from your run.

 

Wow. I've never seen that kind of thing there though I'm usually headed home before nightfall. What do you run there?

 

I ran pro-4 with nopi and SFWD with NHRA but there was always issues with kids getting drunk at the events and doing stupid crap between fighting and like I said walking out in front of you and other crap. MIR is a great track and Jason Miller great guy and puts on huge events like this past weekend. Just needs some better alchol control.

 

I’ve raced my older 996tt there a few times, but can’t speak on track courtesy etc. from the perspective of the pros. I know that the booze section is separate from the family area. The main seats for families are right at the tree. Yea, people have a few drinks and get a bit happy, but I've only witnessed one minor incident, over the past few years, where two kids got into a shoving match. They have actual cops for security during the big events and keep things under control.


It's too bad the President's Cup is no longer there. I liked the Top Fuel and Funny Car nitro burners. They reach my ¼ mile trap speed during their burnout . I plan to get up to PA next year to see the NHRA nitro action.
