I'm looking at a car and would like to see if someone has carfax access and can run a VIN for me?

Maybe someone could correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the cost for carfax is on a per "vin search" basis as opposed to a "time based subscrpition with unlimited usage" that it might have once been.

I'm in the hunt for something too and doing a carfax search might end up costing a small fortune if not a pain in the rear...

It depends on your subscription. Some are unlimited.

 

I thought carfax gives you a username and pword for a given time like a month or something to which you can do unlimited VIN searches,,.no?

What kind of cars are you guys looking at?

Sunir, yes that is one type of subscription. There are also commercail accounts. I'm looking for a beater to repalce my beater that was totaled by a red light runner a few months back Nothing sexy for sure a Taurus wagon. Just can't put the dog in the Porsche and she is getting to old to jump up into my truck.
