Just bought a Cooper S....

What are the general mods evryone does to make these things faster? What sort of power can they make reliably and be daily driveable? Any other suggested mods?

Congrats, pics!

I take it you bought the 06 model? Or is the 'new' 07 already available in the US?

If it is an '06 supercharged model (don't think '07's are out in the states yet), add a 15% pulley. That is reliable as it gets. You can also add an airbox, intercooler, ecu, etc.. but you won't get the same bang for the buck. While you are at it, add a rear sway bar, it makes the car handle really flat and get rid of your runflat tires. It will make the ride a lot less jarring and more tolerable for day to day driving. I use mine as a daily driver and have tracked it a couple of times.

Check out northamericanmotoring.com for all sorts of info on the Cooper.

I love the fact that people who own such fine sportscar drive MINI's, it just shows how good it is!

All depends on how much money you want to drop into it. There is a new Supercharger kit coming out with an M62 SC instead of the original M45. There are also Twincharge kits, Turbo+SC.

If you want to go the easy but very realiable route get a CAI, Cat-back exhaust, 15% smaller SC Pulley and ECU. The pulley makes such a huge difference, not just in power but how the car feels, you get more power and lower in the rev range!

Good luck!

mini is a great daily beater...very well balanced and fun to toss around. I've been renting one every time i've been back up to SF for meetings this year.

mods

on my first mcs, i had Randy Webb add Alta products:
15% pulley, cold air intake, Magnaflow exhaust and adjustable rear sway bar. The mods made it a different car, great sound and just seemed way faster. To bad the driver could drive right.
on my second one now.
