Chrysler! The peugeot motor has been around in European models for many years. Very reliable engine, just now used in the MINI!

The Turbo has more low end torque.

ladies and gents- the age old E36/E46 M3 argument/comparison!

Same here.

I'll take my R53 JCW over the R56 JCW even if I could right now even swap. Any 'bigger'/plusher and I'll take a Audi A3.

R53 w/ mods or JCW is simply raw sports car fun. Not a great daily driver the R56 is much better there but again I'll take the A3 once we get any bigger than the R56.

(I'd also take a E36 M)

I love the styling of the R53, but the engine of the R56.

Newtonold - I think 2005-06 is the only year with a Cooper S available with an Automatic.

Yes. Basically I meant you could not get Auto on a MCS prior to 2005. Right?

drove an 05 mcs and was fun, it seemed to lag a bit (so the 07 turbo fixes this?).
altho it was an automatic.

seems that the automatic tranny's "chug" a bit, iam assuming it b/c not a manual.

The 07's also are available with AT as well. In fact we just tuned one on Saturday. Worked out really well.

The turbo has none of the off idle / launch stall fall on its face stuff that the 06 and earlier do.

I prefer the stick in either the R53 or R56. But many like / need the auto and for an auto it isn't half bad!
