How much is it? How long are you keeping your car? How many miles do you drive a year? If buying I only recommend the manufacturer extended Warranty. We had problems with aftermarket warranty company.

Im planning to keep the car for awhile. I just wanted to see if other owners bought the extended warranty. I was thinking a japanese car is known to be reliable so it should be good without the warranty. But then again i dont want to have problems with the car later down the line and end up paying a arm and a leg to fix it.

Extended warranties are usually very limited, while costing a lot of money. Just as with the ones electronics stores try to sell to you when you buy an item, I would be very hesitant with an extended warranty for the car. Be sure you read exactly what is and isn't covered.

I agree, a lot of contracts say bumper to bumper but have exclusions for this part or that part. Be careful on the mods too. What you think is just common sense may be voiding the warranty to them.

what's the standard warranty? 5 years / 50,000 miles? is the extended warranty extending the manufaturer warranty for 1 year 25,000 miles? or is the 6 years /75,000 in addition to the manufacturer warranty.

i had to ask because i know someone who got scammed for buying a $3,000 warranty and it extended the manufacturer warranty for 1 year only, thinking it was additional six on top of 5, not the case.

japanese cars are very reliable, but the gtr seems to be an excemption, just because they're driven very hard, very often, by most drivers.

if you're going to mod the car or switch cars as often as women buy shoes, then no use to get the extended warranty.

but $5000 for an ADDTIONAL 6 years or 75,000 miles for an $80,000 car seems reasonable, just read the fineprint before signing, make sure it doesn't just cover bumper and bumper, but everything in between.

i'll stop now...goodluck

You can always buy the extended warranty before the end of the original manufacturer's warranty expires.

I bought mine (6yrs/75000mi) at about $4k.

It seems he was trying to make a large profit. In fact, I've heard that I had paid too much. I've seen a few get them for about $3k (close to invoice for extended warranties - this information is posted on NAGTROC).
