I also read the test quite a bit, and have considered the GTR to replace my car since it happens to have a back seat. I am just not convinced I am ready to put up with the myriad of issues including maintenance costs.

Consider this: Automatic Transmission Fluid (GT-R specific) lists for $114.98 per quart. That's not a typo-- maybe an accounting error on Nissan's side, but not a typo. Forget Cristal we're going to start seeing hip-hop videos with rappers pouring this stuff on the ground while throwing dollars in the air. Don't worry, though, we didn't pay that. We got a deal; only $84.24 each. What a bargain.

Warranty? If you tracked your car 8 times and only changed the fluid once you have not adhered to the warranty terms anyway. You may as well start the trans mod now...

Oh boy, here we go again!

^^^^^^You sir are just an idiot^^^^^^

Def great cars both of them, but I would love for someone to start pulling up the tranny issues and blown motors on 997s, just so you know its happened.

I don't think he was serious.

Both of those pictures are retarded - and incorrect...

My car does it in 3.5secs - everytime... With no warranty implications.

And if the fluid from the dealer costs $114 per qt, and it needs 10 qts, then how did my dealer charge me $1040 (-ish) for my fluid exchange INCLUDING 2 hrs of labor?

Dealer ripoff charges ~$80/qt...

But hey, don't let real knowledge get in the way of internet rumors.

Yeah, I guess humor doesn't exist in this forum so I will just leave it at that (but apparently name calling does). I was trying to poke fun at a subject that has been beaten to death.

im so so tired of "defending" the gtr on internet forums from lies and greatly exaggerated maint issue's.I am the general manager of Atlantic Nissan, we are the 2nd largest nissan dealership in the country and i have a huge motor sports dept and we have delivered the most new gtr's to date. i work very close with the factory and i always monitor whats going on with the gtr. I organize track days, rallies, and shows with my customers so they drive there cars!! Being such a large dealership if there were reacquiring problems with a car i think its fair to say statically we would see it. I WILL SAY THIS ONCE, SINCE THE DAY THE GTR CAME OUT, WE HAVE ONLY DONE 1 TRANNY!! OTHER THAN THAT 1 I HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY OTHER REPLACEMENT ON LONG ISLAND AND OVER THE SUMMER I ATTEND ATLEAST 2 200+ CAR SHOWS A WEEK PLUS I AM A MEMBER OF A CAR CLUB AND NOT ONE FAILURE BASED ON AN ACTUAL EVENT!!! By the way the tranny we did do the car wasn't stock and it had a tune and nissan still paid!!! All 33000 that my service dept got for the job. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!! how many board members here have blown a gtr tranny or know someone(not on the web) that has??? lot less than everyone says. There was a thread on here about some problem with the 911's that was causing the motor to fail and porsche didnt wanna pay, it happens!! still love the 911
