Public thank you to Tym Switzer
Public thank you to Tym Switzer
Earlier today I ran my Switzer-equipped GTR at the dragstrip and went 10.73 @ 129.8 with only a cat-back, drop-in filters and custom tune at 18 psi.

This run was one of 6 runs that I made, the very first one being a 10.8 @ 127. I ended modulating my LC rpm and changing shift points until I hit the 10.73. The car was very consistent all day and I had nary an issue.
Best part about the whole day? Watching the expressions on the guys at the dragstrip when I told them I only had a cat-back, drop-in filters and tune!
For those that don't know me, I've owned a lot of fast cars over the years and I am very diligent when researching tuners/builders. During my research on GT-R tuners, I found that a few of the kits out there run actuators to help the tuner slam boost hard and hold it to redline, completely taking the stock turbos out of their efficiency map.
After speaking with Tym at length about my initial goals with this car, it was his tuning philosophy that sold me. In my case, I wanted the safest, most powerful, and most reliable package to run on my GTR every day for a minimal investment. I have a lot of experience with modded cars, and there is a big difference between best power and the most power....so I knew what I was looking for.
In the future, if I get to the point where I want more power than I currently have, I plan on running modified, greater efficiency turbos, with a full cooling solution. Thus, my very likely next step from here will be a P800 package (at a minimum
).
It is really a honest pleasure to drive my car with this setup on it, and since the exhaust is not a straight-pipe setup, I'm still running the stock downpipes. It's also important to note that there is absolutely zero interior drone in my car. It's so quiet, my wife doesn't even know I've installed an aftermarket exhaust (she doesn't like riding in my GT2. Says it's too "loud").
Anyway, my whole reason creating this thread was to publicly thank Tym Switzer and the rest of the SPI team for building such a simple, yet very potent package that has 100% stock drivability. I honestly couldn't be more pleased.

Congrats, Scott.
When I dropped my car off to Tym and after speaking with him for an hour so, I knew that I couldn't have made a better choice in tuner. Tym is such a stand up guy and I look forward to all that is to come from Switzer for all of our freaky car needs..=)

Scott - I'm glad you had a great experience with Switzer. From what I can tell, this has become the norm. You've got a solid 10sec car in practically stock form, full amenities, and stock drivability (by the way - from what I've seen/heard, the P800 also retains stock drivability as well).
