Drove 75 miles for Lunch

With the rainny weather lately, I only have been driven short distances. The sun came out today and I decided to drive to Santa Cruz for lunch with my wife. Although I didn't drive fast but it was nice just to enjoy cruising with the top down.

There were at least 4 CHP on top of the hill on CA17 (speed limit 50); I still couldn't figure out why the CHP stopped the car in front of my car while we were going about the same speed.

We had a nice walk on Boardwalk and had lunch at Hawg's (a nice seafood restaurant with very reasonable prices).

After lunch, we just cruised back... thought about doing a wot but didn't want to wakeup my wife since she was taking a nap.

sounds great! My wife and I love nice long drives as well. Halfmoon Bay, Napa, and Capitola. Let me know if you wanna connect for a drive/lunch in the near future.

Yes, it was good weather indeed. Try Carmel, Napa and even Santa Barbara. The car has plenty of room for longer trips.

That's easy, he got the first guy going above whatever speed they were stopping people at so he stopped him. If you'd been the first car he would've stopped you. He's not going to pass up stopping the first car only to find out you slammed on the brakes and dropped below the speed he was stopping people at. It's all about the $$$$$!

I guess it all depends on the situation and the CHP. One time, I was in L.A. going toward San Diego in my family mini van. I was about 10 mph over the speed limit and a CHP stopped me. I told him that the car in front of me just passed me and going much faster than me... and he replied... "yeah, I saw that red van in front of you, so?" That told me some CHPs just catch the easy target.

I also have seen ONE CHP stopped 3 cars and handed out tickets. So, it is all depends.

Hey Eugene - my wife and I spent the weekend at Seascape and had lunch at the Paradise Cafe in Capitola on Sunday. We could have had a mini-caravan and drove together...

Too bad we didn't know beforehand that each of us were going.

Rich, how is the food at Paradise Cafe? I may try it next time. If you go South a little more, Phil's Fish Market at Moss Landing is a good place for lunch too.
