Cars and Coffee

Mitchell just called me about this. I have plans at 3, so if a drive forms, I probably won't be able to go, but I'll see you all at 11.
My baby's been sleeping for a while so it will be nice to wake her up.

Sorry guys I can't make it to this one. I have to help my friend move, and I still don't have my turbo back! I will make the next one, as long as I have my turbo back (or if I have another surprise).

I thought i'd offer a few comments that I PM'd Senna.
Great idea!
In the future, I think we will get better turnout on Saturday AM.
When I was at Cars and Coffee in irvine I noticed a few things that I think greatly contributed to its success.
The cars were interesting. Generally speaking, more interesting cars have higher demand, Higher demand means a higher price tag, higher price tag means bigger wallet. Where are the bigger Wallets? the biggest are in Medina on the lake. Other thick ones are in or near Bellevue. An added bonus, by locating close to the interesting cars the garage queens are more likely to make the trip outside since the miles are kept to a minimum for them to get there. It has an added bonus that the more interesting the cars are, the more likely people are to come from far away to see the cars and thus drive there best to show as well.
The location was perfect. You had one entry and exit point. This meant that you saw anycar that entered the area and owners of highend car felt safe as their car was in a pretty secure area. There was a big parking lot near by so those with trailered cars could off load then and spectators could come and park in a seperate location which added to the effect. All of the interesting cars were concentrated and the Accords and other "normal" car were not in a position to dilute the effect.
There were loose rules. There was a posted sign at the entry point which had a welcome message on one side and a goodbye message on the other. I don't remember the suggested rules they had but I do remember one of them being on your way out they suggested not peeling out or accelerating quickly as they wanted to keep the site looking nice for the next event and they didn't want any people or cars getting hurt.
The event was early. I am guessing as to why. but I think that many successful people are up early and enjoy the lack of traffic as they put their nicest car on the road. They also have other things to do during the day and doing this early allows people to still head away for the weekend. I think the event was from 7-9AM on a Saturday.
The cause was posted on the way in and you knew where to go to donate/participate. I think when I was there it was like the Girl Scouts or something, but either way, its a great way to be involved and play with our toys.
I'd gladly be a part of the planning commitee on this.
