About to buy a 01 or 02 996TT any issue I should be aware of?

I am looking for a 01-02 996TT and wonder if you guys have any suggestion that I should know before buying one. Also, are there any different between MY 01, 02 and 03? First time posting and know so little about the 996TT. If everything goes well, I will have my dream car soon
Thanks
Mike

By the way, my Audi is up for sale if you guy or your friend looking for one.

Dam Mike, can't believe you are selling it! That is one clean car!

I would check the 996 TT board here, & over @ rennlist.
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/index.php

They are Ok engine wise, but have a few known issues. WILL BE WAY faster then the Audi!!!!

BTW, it's Mike, with the Imola S4, but she is now gone, & I as you want to, have jumped on the Porsche Bandwagon!

Dam, I now want Thai Food, know a good place?

Yea, I know how that goes. Oh well, the 911 will be much more fun! There are a few in the area for sale, if you want some help with what to look for, or want a opinion, let me know.

We stop by every time we are in the area, but since I don't work @ UW anymore, we are rarely in U-Village.

I don't think there are huge difference b/w '01 - '03. i've heard the '01 is lighter? I don't think it has a sunroof, but could be wrong on that. You might find an '03 that still has extended warranty. Mine is good until December. Check for the 2nd gear pop out issue, and if you can find an X50, could save you some money on upgrades. Are you looking for a stock or modded turbo? If i was doing all over again, i'd find one that is tastefully modded with a GT600 - GT750 package and save some huge money on future mods
Also, look for one with sport seats or one with aftermarket seats. The basic stock seats suck big time. have fun!

Thanks for the suggestion. I have a pair of Recaro sitting in my garage. I might try to fit them when I get the car.

Get it inspected before the purchase. Also look for documented service records. Oil leaks tend to be the biggest problem on just about any Porsche, particularly relating to the rear main seal.
