Do you always go to the dealer?

Hi fellow NW members,

May I know if you always take your Porsche (especially the people who bought your porsche brand new) to the dealer or a reputable shop locally when there is a problem or for check-ups...etc.

Is dealer really worth that much more than say a Porsche-specialized shop out there?

If you take it to a good local shop, please feel free to recommend it...

Thank you.

If your car is under warranty you should take it to the dealer where they can perform necessary recalls and also using OEM parts. You can use other specialized shops for performance upgrades or alignments etc.,etc...

I take it to dealer for warranty work, but to MAXRPM in Bremerton for everything else.

I always take mine to Barrier - have known the guys by first name in the service department through 3 Porsche's now. I give them coffee and they take good care of me (hehe). Seriously though - they are great and I trust them - although I know I pay more. They give me free loaner too if I need one.

barrier is ok if you zillions from pushing drugs (sbux) for a living
or if you want authorized repair on your car.

Cantrell Motorsports for upgrades

Since I don't have zillions or drugs. Have had good experiences with Barrier for Warranty work and very good experiences with Alex at MaxRPM for mods.

I have an '84 Carrera. I'd be surprised if Barrier could even change my oil - they'd probably have to order the filter from Germany.
I think we're pretty fortunate to have so many excellent independent Porsche shops in Seattle.
Edit: I do most of my own work, but Gerber Motorsport is my shop of choice when something is over my head.

Nope.
Was it on a cool car? I wouldn't want someone defaming my 6speed moniker...
