It's exactly what we intended, where the cars came out and people gathered in a fairly tight group. I counted 34 cars in the main show lot and about another 15 in the spillover area that will eventually become part of the show lot. We're still sorting out how to better tune the event so that there is excitement to come back again and again. What's nice about RTC is that we got a lot of spectators from the mall, especially as we got closer to 10 AM. It was actually a lot more cars than Vic and I were expecting at this first event. Sir Mix-A-Lot was also there with his orange LP to help kick off the location. For those of you who came a long way, thank you, and especially those of you who supported the spirit of the event. We home to continue to build on this great start.
Yup, you won the bet ( I guessed we'd get about ten this first time, Vic guessed 20). What worked is that there were a lot of common threads in this group that made it tie together well. Obviously some cars wouldn't work in the display area, but the point was to not just have cars fill a lot either. I don't care what you drive, this was a lot of great people. There were just a couple of cars that probably would have been better in the second lot so we had more room for less common cars, but overall, it worked well. People really had a great time hanging out together. A friend of ours is friends with the Redmond police and they are all car guys so that's why they came out. They were having fun too. There was only one corvette that made a lame attempt at a burnout, and that's a no-no for any event like this, and one other car we know and I'll talk to the owner, but other than that it went very smoothly.
Some more pics ( only got a few) posted here on photosleeve: http://www.photosleeve.com/user/mich...rtc-valentines

I was embarrassed to drive my car there.
Amazing cars. Thanks for putting this together, I really apprecaite it. Looking forward to the next one.
And I can't beleive I missed Sir Mix-alot! He is the man.

You're embarrassed??? Imagine what I'll feel like rolling up to one of these?
You don't have to have a great ride to fit in with the people. I wish I had pictures of some of my earlier rides. A Yugo would have been a step up. If you're car doesn't fit the character of the display area, then still come, park in the spill-over area and meet some of the owners. While the cars may be in a different class, the people are all just people who like to talk cars. What was nice today was that those who didn't feel like they had an "exotic" car, still walked over and had fun with everyone anyway and there were lots of chances to take great photos. We also want suggestions about how to make the next one even better.
