Breaking in a new toy.

Sig mosquito.

It's taken a few thousand rounds and several lappings of the chamber/barrel. It has been a finicky gun from the start. Originally it would print 2" at 21 with bulk ammo and feed about 60% of the time.

After 2000 rounds It was feeding much more reliably, but I still thought it could be improved. Using some lapping compound and swab brushes with a dremel at low speed I cleaned out the chamber over the next 2000 rnds. I then lapped the barrel by hand with a Jagg and several dozen patches.

I saw a huge improvement to 1.5 inch at 21 feet. For a plinker with combat sights that is not really a target pistol it is pretty good. I then set about finding the right ammo for it.

After a few hundred rounds of match grade ammo,

I found out the Eley Match eps and eley tenx were the most accurate. But at 20 bucks a box of 50 that is a bit steep. I happened to pick up Federal gold match target 711b from a local shop for 3.17 a box of 50. It shot as well as the 10x and EPS but at a much more palatable price. I spent some time weighing a box out, and there is quite a bit of variation compared to EPS and 10x. I am willing to bet that the bullets have some dimension variation in them also. I think with Paco's acurizer and weighing out the cartridges I will improve upon my groupings even more.

Top Left is a 5 shot scoring 39, Top row mid right was not scored. Middle row left was 35, Middle middle was 38
Bottom left was 10 shot trigger work group.
Bottom middle left was scored at 42, bottom middle right was scored at 36
Bottom right was trigger work group.

Those Sig Mosquitos look like a lot of fun at a very good price. I know you bought the pink one, right?

I love practicing with the .22LR, vs .45ACP. I've gotten about 10K rounds through my 22LR upper (a simple swap for my competition gun) in the past year, and I have to say that it has made me such a better shooter. Very used to the trigger release and using the exact same sight picture (Yay Novak). All for about $400 in ammo.

Eley is good. When I was shooting competitively in high school I ran Eley Club Xtra in my Anschutz target rifle. Shot very good. Even after 10k rounds or so.

Good looking groups!

Honestly I would love to shoot 22 pistols competively. I have looked for a club online, but have not seen any around. I will most likely have to go to the ranges directly.

Action pistol is .38Super/9MM or higher caliber. I just shoot the .22LR for practice. I don't think that the rounds would be a problem accuracy wise, but they don't have the force to work solidly on some of the reactive targets.

IPPSC does not interest me.

I specifically meant 22LR pistol competition
