New purchase: 2003 Cobra

I just realized I hadn't posted up the details of my Camaro getting totaled, or the details of my new purchase.

On 2/7 my 01 Camaro SS was run off the road by a newer F150. I swerved to avoid the F150 as it ran a yield sign on an I5 northbound onramp. The ground was damp and I slid out of control into a freeway sign. Insurance totaled out the car. The F150 driver didn't stop, and I didn't get his plate, so this all came out of my pocket unfortunately.

As of 3/4 I purchased a 2003 SVT Cobra. The car is smothered in Oxford White and is sporting 18x9/18x10 Saleen wheels for shoes. It has some of the fairly typical mods for the SC'd Cobras. Billetflow 2.76 pulley kit, K&N cold air, Mac H-pipe, Magnaflow Catback, custom tune, Spec Stage 3+ clutch, Spec aluminum flywheel, and some upgraded suspension components.

The tune on the car currently is rather mild and it is making 435whp/450wtq. I plan to have a better custom tune done at Horsepower Ranch. The owner there is very knowledgeable on these cars and with the current mods the car should be able to hit the 450whp-460whp mark with torque between 470-480.

I don't have any great photos of it as of yet, but here's a few:

Hopefully I can make it out to a 6speed meet again soon.

Oh, and can I get in on this UnF*C*Withables group. I think an 11 second capable daily driver qualifies.

Thanks. I was very fortunate in the accident. I walked away with a very small cut on my left hand and my back was sore for a couple days. Looking at the car, you would have expected a serious injury.

The Cobra is a much better platform with a lot more potential than the Camaro. I already enjoy the Cobra a lot more and I haven't even added any of my own mods to it.

Good buy on the Cobra, those things can become monsters with a little bit of work.

Thanks.

I'm currently trying to decide how big I want to go. The good ol' how much power is "enough" power. Ported blower would easily get me over the 500whp mark and it's not that expensive to do. Whipple or KB setup could get me over 600whp, but then I've gotta start upgrading the drivetrain a bit.

Those things can be extremely mean! I love the sound that V8 produces.

Thanks. I'm workin on getting it there. Gave the suspension some needed attention. It was way too low and not anywhere near stiff enough. I've got a really nice strut tower bar setup that connects at 4 different places under the hood. Need to get that installed. Previous owner of the STB advised that it would lift 3 tires when jacked up due to the STB. Hopefully that rigidity stops my 305's in the rear from rubbing under hard cornering.

I plan on hopefully taking some autox courses when I'm in Spokane next month. NwBMWclub is sponsoring a novice day with ASNW.
