I liked the Top Gear where they had a Prius Go around there track with 1 gallon of gas with a lotus elise following it with 1 gallon of gas.

The Prius ran out of gas first.

Now granted, the Prius was on the throttle around the track and really isn't designed for that. So all you can really conclude is that the lotus is more efficient on the track.

Thing is, I see people in Prius and Civic hybrids flooring it on the highway all the time, and I just know they're getting lousy millage, and not really having all that much fun driving either.

On my trip to Portland I got about 35mpg. I think it is possible to have a fun car to drive that gets good millage, but that car is not a Prius.

=)

I had a Prius for a rental on my last trip to California. I kept thinking what's the point whenever I tried using the battery only, it kept switching to gas. I guess my foot was a bit too heavy or maybe it was all those drifting I'd try to pull. Anyways, I really didn't understand the point of the Prius after driving it. It's truly a gutless wonder.

dude, you freaked me out.....

Anyhow I also drove one (a friends) for about an hour and when I got out I litterally threw up. My son also said he felt sick after the ride... I didnt think being so disconnected with the rest of the road could do that. Several months later I went to lunch with another friend in another Prius and when I got out I felt the urge to purge too....

something is wrong with those cars and now I give the drivers more room and respect as anyone who can manage to keep one "mostly" on the road with holding off the hurling is a winner in my book....

mjf, i hear ya.

Everday I drive I-5 I get passed by a Prius going 80... which voids the point of having a "fuel efficient" car. lol
