Drive tomorrow 19 June

Hello everyone,

I'm headed to Oregon Raceway Park tomorrow. I have ALL DAY to get there. The track is in Grass Valley, OR and I live in Mill Creek, WA. I'm looking for a fun (Lotus kind of fun) route down. What are your recommendations?

Is hwy 410 open? What about 706, 123, and 12? Has anyone been on Canyon rd which parallels I-82 heading south out of Ellensburg?

I can't get to Grass Valley until 6:30 pm so I have plenty of time to stop for nourishment, libation and sightseeing. It would be fun if someone with some free time wanted to join me for part of the drive.

I didn't know you were up here in Mill Creek? Or maybe I did but I forgot......

I have no idea about roads south. There are some nice ones headed east though...

Yup sorry for such late notice. With so little on my schedule now that school is out, I just haven't felt the need to plan that far ahead!

James, yup, were close there is a few of us up here IIRC.

I did this drive last week to The Dalles and took 97 south from Ellensburg. It's a great drive but not too curvy. You will like it a lot south of Yakima. FYI, I live near Mill Creek and found it a fairly fast drive. We left at 10am and was there at 2pm so stopped at the Maryhill Winery.

Thanks Eric. I here 821 is a fun road that follows the river and has lots of twisties. Apparently, it is short but worth it.

Ok, then it's official, I'm taking 410 on the way there and on the way home I'll detour to 821 but other wise the fast route on the way back. I tlooks like it will be a 6 hour drive for me on the way there. (I could make it almost to Tunderhill in that time!) Add an hour for gas, food and a tasty beverage. I'll leave the Mill Creek area around 12.

I can do lunch on the east side if someone feels like it. I'll probably find dinner around Yakima unless someone has a recommendation?
