Spyker C8 Aileron
Spyker C8 Aileron
I test drove the Aileron today and it was a lot of fun. Here's a post on my blog about it if you're interested - http://www.apexrally.com/2009/09/spy...est-drive.html
have a good one

Nice blog
Spykers are weird
Here is their SUV prototype from a few years ago at Monterey
(note the suicide doors -- aptly named IMHO because once you get drunk enough to part with the cash for one of these wildebeasts you will want to get in the back seat and blow your brains out)

I drove both the Aileron and SWB Spyder on Weds at same event. They are fun cars to drive - raw in a good way - but they are both very different. Very reminiscent of a TVR Griffith 500 I used to own.
The Aileron has a more refined drive train and chassis making it more like a GT in comparison. The Laviolet/Spyder is very lively to throttle and steering response - I constantly kept feeling that I would kick out its rear end whenever I got on the throttle. Throttle response is almost intantaneous!
The fit and finish of the pre-production Aileron prototype was understandably rough in the edges: doors did not shut tight, turn signals cancelled on their own (alarming when you have other Spykers following at speed!), glove compartment trim coming off etc. Mechanically though, the car felt solid. However, their production Laviolets and Spyders were very nicely finished.
I'm really glad Spyker exists and do what they are doing and wish them success. Brings back the good old days of small fully independent exotic car manufacturers.

I also attended this event on Thursday, What a car Spyker makes. I have always thought that they were great looking cars but untill yesterday had no idea that they were such a drivers car.
I will take a Black over Orange Manual Tranny Ailerion!!
Its been a long time since any modern car has excited me, the Ferrari's and Lambo's seem to have all become so genertic. Excellant cars in all out capabilities, but they seem to have very little passion.
Sorry for the rant but I am just over the top after the drive. Those of you that have never driven one need to get behind the wheel, you will understand.
