Got a "No front plate" ticket on 405!
In Washington, Initiatives to the People require signatures equal to 8% of the votes cast for the office of governor in the last election.
Based on our last gubernatorial (first time I've ever used this word in a sentence
) election numbers in 2008, only about 235,000 signatures to go. I'm wondering how valid online petitions are for submittal.

Nothing was worse then having holes in my front bumper for my damn license plate. But the WSP pull people over without them to find other issues. Like stolen vehicles, drunks, drug trafficking, warrants, etc. Every car is required to have one in Wa, so I don t see what the fuss is about. Put it in your window?? Like one said, they allow us to go 10-15 over the mph at times! So I wouldnt be blaming it on the WSP needing money, I would say its due to the continue need to decrease the rate of stolen cars , which is at a 20 year low. Its not just exotics that get pulled over for it either. But I agree we shouldn't need a front license plate, just stop blaming the cops for your lack of putting a plate in a visible place.

They can still cite you for having the plate in your window...
And while the "preventing theft" argument seems logical, it's not exactly likely. They have your plates being run before they even step out of the car, after reading your rear plate, not your front.
And people around here all seem to be finding out more and more that the old way of 10-15 MPH isn't exactly the way things are working now. We're seeing tickets being issued for 5MPH over, and sometimes within the legal margin of error for speedometers.

I for ONE can not remember the last time you "could get away" with 15MPH over the speed limit..where would that be, I want to drive there!!
Yea, I don't know how someone gets this idea that the WSP is letting us get away with 15 over. I've had a friend recently get a ticket for five over and all you have to do is look at the swarm of WSP working 405 up by 85th where they seem to be pulling people over for just about anything. I have a hard time believing that corridor is all that much of a crime haven or for that matter a place to speed given the usual traffic along that stretch. It could be different departments, given that the WSP near Leavenworth was a very nice guy, just reminded us of the law and let us get on our way. I have a hard time believing that a front plate is going to help the WSP in any way recover my car if it's stolen as it's the ONLY green Lamborghini LP640 roadster in the state.
Tom, On my way to lunch at Dixie's, I saw a traffic advisory sign yesterday posting that WSP is patrolling for Seat belt aka "click it or ticket and Cell phone violations on 405 and I-90... WSP just came and told everyone they were going after these violations. You can bet the unannounced violations like lic plates, etc are open game too!
Has anyone tried one of these remote plates? It can be activated from within the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1zIGPyJunI&NR=1
I agree. It is pretty cool for sure but I'd bust it off. my splitters aren't pretty
