Bora Bora Pics

Well, I got the idea from here to go to Bora Bora a while back, so I thought I'd share my trips pics. Just got back from a 10 day trip to the French Polynisian Islands - Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea etc.

Anyway, a picture says a thousand words, so here goes...
Our first couple nights on the island of Tahiti. It was similar to Hawaii with a vibrant city life on the shore of its volcano. Here is a pic in front of our room.

We then embarked on our ship, the M/S Paul Gauguin, which was to sail for the next 7 days, stopping at the various islands..

All you drinkers out there will love it because everything was all-inclusive, including everything you see here:

and just another of many bars throughout the ship.

The ship itself was amazing...just one of the few rated 5+ stars that sail today. To give you an idea - we had our own private butler who turned down our room twice a day! The Executive Chef was flown in from Fance and prepared a 6 course meal everyday. Each morning, they dispatch a boat to catch fresh fish that is served for lunch. It was probably the most luxuries accomodations we have ever had.
Anyway, one of our stops was thier own private island with a BBQ and bar.

This was our view:

and this is me! The water was around 80 degrees and you could walk from island to island in the shallow water...

So, we spent a good alcohol filled day there. Next stop was Bora Bora...our first stop was to get a burger at the foot of one of their public beaches.

Then we checked into our hotel to stay a night on the island.

Yup, we got an over water bungalow with a glass floor! The living room basically had a coffee table that opened to the water:

Here is the view looking down:

It was cool, if you drop coconut pieces down, all kinds of fish come swimming up. More of the resort and bungalows:

There are tons more pics, but these are just to give you a hint of what it is like out there. I highly recommend Bora Bora for an anniversary or something to impress your better half. Hope you enjoyed the pics.

If you are interested, the ship is one of the only ones that sails the Polynisian islands. Although a little pricey, it exceeded my expectations. Here is a link if you are interested: http://www.pgcruises.com/

Also, the hotels were great too. All of them were at the Intercontinental Bora Bora, Tahiti and Moorea and I would recommend them; Bora Bora and Moorea being the best choices.

By those huts.. is there a resort/town nearbye or is it pretty exclusive and out of the way?

Thank you all for the kind words. I was a little hesitant to post pics with my little Costco digital camera in the company of some amazing photographers here, but fortunately the scenery helped make them look better.

It was a little pricey.

Airline tix from LA to Papeete: $1200ish/per person
Hotels: Overwater Bungalows: $400-$1500 per night, depending on the season, early bookings, hotels etc.
Cruise Ship: Retailed for $6600/per person for a balcony suite.

So, overall with taxes and personal spending, a little over $20K for my wife and me.

However, it can be done for a fraction of the cost depending on deals that you find now, other accomodations etc. Especially now, with the economy the way it is. In fact, there are deals right now with free airfare! Hope that helps...let me know if you need more info on where to find some of the deals.

It depends. Check out this link that lists the hotels we stayed in:

http://www.tahiti.intercontinental.com/

The Bora Bora Thalasso Resort was on its own, secluded island easily accessable from the main island via boat (15 minute ride). The Le Mona resort was off the mainland...which was a bike ride away from their little town for some cheap food. You can enjoy both resorts facilities if you stay in one or the other - and they have a free water taxi to get you back and forth.

The Tahiti resort was just okay - it paled in comparison to the Bora Bora and Moorea resorts.
