that doeesn't sound too bad, 26mph over, just go to court and talk to the police, maybe plead for a lesser charge?

Which police department? If it was NYC Highway Patrol, who is the citing officer?

If you don't feel like sharing, call Frank DeSousa. Hands down, the best. +1 (516) 505-7715

I think the Bronx is a traffic violations bureau there isn't any plea bargaining.

Depends on who wrote the ticket. Perhaps, when it comes to trial, the citing officer may be unable to recall the events that lead up to the violation and he'll "win" the trial.

That's true or if you want to save $500 or so for the lawyer fee he just has to ask the cop 2 questions.
1 Degree of accuracy of the laser? 1mph
2 Degree of accuracy with vehicle speed estimates? probably 3-5mph

Judge will probably ammend ticket to 75mph. It sucks that it is still is in the 11-30mph over range though. That is basically all the attorneys do in traffic violations bureau.

Now if I ever needed a traffic attorney for suffolk or nassau I would go with David Mansfield or Dan O'brien. Also you have to make sure that Frank DeSousa is the one that handles your trial and it isn't handed off to one of the regular staff tvb attorneys.

Got one myself a year and a half ago on cross bronx expwy by tri-borough bridge but I was actually racing the undercovers with a Yellow Cab. I thought the cab driver was just being in a mood for some speeding. Next thing you know lights came on in that yellow cab, it felt like christmass tree all lighted up. Anyways I called all bunch of people and got the same answer (YOU ARE F....D).
Then found Matt Greenberg (212) 255-5556 after 9 months my ticket was dismissed with "Not guilty". Since then everyone I've sent to him has been very happy with the outcome.

In NYC, Suffolk County and a few other places in NY tickets are handled by the Traffic Violations Bureau of the DMV. It is not a real court and there is absolutely no plea bargaining. It's all or nothing.

While very few people win cases it extremely difficult to win against a NYC Highway Patrol Officer. These guys live for this crap and I can tell you from personal experience they LIE their asses off in the hearings. In addition they are pros at writing what I would call "alternate" violations. For example if he wants to write you a speeding ticket but knows he has no real proof whatsoever he will write you for "Disobeying a Traffic Signal" instead then lie his *** off at the hearing about how he is a trained expert in speed estimation and you were going 90mph. Since he knows he can't get you on a speeder he nails you with this and the pseudo "judge" will tell you it's better than a speeding ticket and proclaim you guilty even though the Officer cannot prove you ever even passed a speed limit sign or were actually speeding at all.

This whole operation is the biggest scam going and designed to be a money making machine for the state. It has nothing to do with justice or vehicular safety (just like these Highway Patrol guys who need to write their required summonses per day don't either) it has only to do with revenue and NOTHING else.

Good luck!

Doesn't matter. The HWP Officer will just lie and make it up.

I have seen one of these guys contradict themselves over and over in one of these hearings. It means nothing. In fact in one of the hearings he couldn't even describe the vehicles involved.

They win you lose because the state wants your money.

Better traffic lawyer

I used the law firm of Michael J. Palumbo for tickets I got both in and out of the city. I highly recommend his services. In Westchester they got a 6 point speed reduced to an equipment violation, and I had 2 moving violations in the Bronx. One was dismissed, and 1 was reduced. His office number is 914-777-2990 and website www.mpalumbolaw.com

Use the law office of Michael Palumbo for all of your traffic tickets. 914-777-2990 & www.mpalumbolaw.com. He did a great job for me in several tickets and I did not even have to show up to court.
