Next car. S2000 or 350z
Ok, so this saturday I am going to Atlanta, Ga to purchase a new car for college. I really want an evo or maybe a sti but Im trying to stay close to $10,000. So my next best choices are the s2000 or the 350z. Ive always loved the s2000 but the 350z seems like an ok alternate also. If i get the s2k, i will eventually get a hardtop and I dont want to spend that money. The 350z seems like it can get expensive to work on too. I know that the 350 maybe a little quicker stock but i might change the fd gear ratio in the s2k so it should even out. I know the s2k in and out as i been researching them for months and I know some about the 350 so are there any other opinions.
I vote for the S2k
I've had a couple of STi's myself, and got a chance to drive an S2k. While it's not as practical as the subie, it is a sick car to drive on the street and track too
the 350 is nice, but I'd definately get an S2k if I were you

Nice choices but I would go for the s2k. A 350z roadster would be hard to find at 10k; I think you can find a nicer s2k for 10. Go-Kart handling, with the convertible top, and Honda reliability. It's a better platform with more potential down the road should you decide to mod. Zs feel chintzy and cheaper in comparison as well.
I've owned multiples of both. They are very different animals in the same class. They get the same job done with opposite methods.
The S2k is more of a surgical tool; very precise, razor sharp handling, high revving race car feel.
The 350z is very torquey, more of a GT car with gobs of power. The weight tranfer is harsher if your not smooth with the inputs.
Either way you'll have a great car. PS, spend a tad more then $10k to get a clean, unmolested version of either. The last thing you want is someone elses thrashed, high KM car.

Niether save up a little and get a Acura NSX.
But you cannot go wrong with a WRX, but they will probably be ripped to shreds unless you find the right owner.........
I have never been a fan of the 350z. The S2000 is great but not a great DD.

^and then boost the NSX
<---Plans to do this project at some point in my life
But yeah NSX is fun to drive, and reliable to boot. And when it does break it doesn't empty your bank account like anything european

thanks for all replies guys, i got to ride in two 350z's today. they are fun cars to ride in. I can find a much nicer s2k for 10 grand vs the 350z though. Im leaning towards the s (i never liked the z too much) and i will visit one this saturday.
