New guy MR2 Spyder widebody project

I'm loving this site! A lot of clean cars here! Hopefully one day I can step up to a Porsche!
I'm based in Fl and have been into cars for years rolling with jadecrew.com (off topic but check out my boy's FD for sale https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ebody-ls1.html ). Here are some pics of my current car and some of my previous rides as well.
My current project is a 2000 MR2 Spyder--just freshly painted..Speed Yellow =) with Authentic Veilside Fortune widebody kit, Veilside pro drag exhaust, TRD Sportivo full suspension, etc. Wheels are Forgeline-custom set matched width and offset to fit the kit. Tuning the Power Enterprise turbo kit is next on the list.

My daily beater- 91 Miata, Tein coilovers, Racing Beat everything, RS Watanabe magnesium wheels, etc. This must be the most fun, most tossable daily beater ever. 20 yrs old and it takes a beating from me like I was Ike Turner and it never needs anything more than crap gas and 4k miles oil changes.

My previous toy- 04 RX8 with everything from the Mazdaspeed catalog, Volk Racing Progressiv Spoke wheels, KW Variant 3 coilovers.
I loved that stance- fenders were rolled and slightly stretched ..perfect drivability and no hellarub.

another shot of my old 8 w Rays Gram Lights in Rays Metal Coating parked next to my old 335i vert

my previous previous previous toy .. Another RX8, Mazdaspeed everything including full Mazdaspeed suspension. Staggered Rays Arthur Exchange wheels w stainless steel lip. Believe it or not, I once paralleled park, scraped the lip on a concrete curb and the curb LOST..barely any damage on the lip. My fave wheels of all time. I'm holding a future car freak--my daughter.

My prev, prev, prev, prev project--06 Lan Evo Volk LE28n's, Gialla front end, Greddy fmic, all the bpu's, and ecu flash. I will forever have mad respect for Evo's. Mad mad respect.

7,8 years agol..My back in the day MR2 Turbo, Volk GTP's, Border front, Tom's sides and back, Garage Fukui Departure dual exhaust, JDM gen II motor/ceramic turbo, Sparco seats, etc.

1989 Conquest TSI/ Starion ESIR- Everything has a beginning. This is what started it all for me 20 yrs ago. Punk kid- no sense of style with hair and apparently horribly bad judgement w winter outerwear (purple?! really?!wtf was I thinking?) and picture posing as well =). But he sure knew what he liked in cars. **** was HARD WORK sourcing out parts- no internet, no message boards, no forums invented yet..lol. Turbocharged, fmic, deep dish wheels w sticky yoko's, factory widebody fender flares, custom 3 tone candy apple paint, HKS Exhaust, intake, HKS manual boost controller, etc. Twenty years ago..blows my mind...lol. anyways, just wanted to say hi and looking forward to contributing to the awesomeness of this forum!

It's in the blood, my son copping a squat in my friend's widebody supra's wheel.

Thanks! I see myself cutting my teeth on a preowned Boxster first. I'm loving top down driving nowadays and I love how the Boxster handles. For this year though, I'm going to enjoy the MR2 spyder.

Hey wide2k we have almost identical car tastes . I have before an Evo 8 with 400 whp and a BMW 335. Right now is the one in my avatar , a Fiesta(40 mpg) as my DD do not laugh too much and this, my track rat .

Now after blowing the motor at 275 whp I'm installing all of this pieces and a Apex FC hoping to get 340 whp in my 2100 pounds MR2.

PD. Nice MRS see you on spyderchat .

RX- That MRS is going to be a force. And i'm feeling your daily beater--40mpg = less time at the pump and more time saved for your day. A car that adds time to your day, that is true luxury .

Tell me, do you find that the more you mature, the more you like lighter and lighter cars? I did not like my 335i vert, it felt heavy..but the near 2000 lbs MR2 Spyder and the Miata feels great. I can only imagine what an Ariel Atom feels like.

Wide2k we must be brothers separated at birth . The only car that I will trade the MRS is for a Ariel Atom (or a BMw Z2 http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=478781 or a vw blue sport http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...t-roadster.htm or a baby porsche http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsAr...llCars/244381/ . Well you get the idea . You hit the nail with the weight (less) advantage of this type of cars that make more visceral everything from sliding to hard braking and everything in between. I try an S2000 and it feel like a pig compared to our cars. This is a car of the shop where my car is right now an MRS powered by an 2zz turbo putting 410 whp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6WwSb0kVQ4 that is awesome . Im in spyderchat if you want to go there are some nice MRS http://spyderchat.com/. There I'm RxSpyder . We are some lightweight suckers , enjoy yours cars in good health.

some updated pics courtesy of a friend of mine-- for our club's website - jadecrew.com
I took the VS emblem off temporarily because we had to repaint front bumper due to imperfections.

Very cool ride. I have been looking at MR2's for a long time. Have you tracked or autox'd your MR2? If yes, how was that? If not ... oh well. Your kid is cute.

I've taken it out a few times on 'Sunday drives' and although it was rewarding-- to be honest, I prefer my Miata at the track or for a super twisty country back road. The MR2 spyder is more of a weekend laid back cruiser for me. I will say I am impressed at how the the body kit held up during very aggressive driving and turns. I see no stress cracks or body fatigue in the Veilside kit after several very fun weekends.

Always fun to see the path people take... I dig the Evo and Miata most! Looking forward to your feedback after some seat-time in a P-car compared to your extensive history in the import scene. Welcome to the 6 and here's a little rep for a proper intro...

Nice widebody MR-2, and nice previous cars. Also like the wheels you chose for the MR-2, look perfect on it. Welcome to the site.
