Similar problem here. Sometimes the car recognizes the iPod, sometimes not. When it's not working I can always get it back by unplugging the cable and then re-attaching.

Here's another audio problem - my Panny Turbo has completely "forgotten" that there's an XM Radio installed. It doesn't show up at all under Sources. Had it in to the dealer for an oil change last Friday - they said they had XM working again but when I got in to drive away it was AWOL. Emails being sent to Germany. Will try to remember to post here when it's fixed.

Must be some Windows code in the car's software LOL.

It is hard for me to explain directions because I figured most functions out by pecking at the buttons. You ought to be able to set many presets for XM. There are 3 banks of sat presets (sat 1, sat 2, sat 3). The only problem I have had with my i-pod is that it recognizes one ipod touch but not the other. There are several disclaimers that it may not recognize recent version i-pods. I though about griping to the dealer, but it probably is a version recognition problem.

I'm using the iPod on my iPhone 3GS...I will connect a iPhone 4 and see if this version of the iPod works

The XM problems and Ipod quirks are known. Porsche is working on a software upgrade. I don't think it is finished yet.

As far as forgetting your presets, try this. Reset all of your presets the way you want them. Turn the preference buttons on by pushing the "off" button until the light goes out. These are the four buttons on the door marked set, 1, 2 and off. Now push the set and 1 button until you hear a faint tone. The presets are set for that user. Push the off button until the light comes back on. This will prevent accidently changing your preferences. If they have disappeared next time you look, press the 1 button to get them back.

It appears many things are set by the preference buttons. These include the radio settings, the configurable screen to the right of the tach, the seat positions, the behavior of the lights, locking, mirror actions, and probably more I'm not thinking of right now. All of these can be changed temporarily by any driver, but they will revert to the preferences set by the last programming of the set, 1, 2 and off buttons on the door. I have been told that using the remote and hitting lock, unlock will set the preferences also.

My 4S has also forgotten there is an XM radio - I took a few pictures when it went AWOL and then drove it to the dealer one day last week when it was acting up. They said there were no error codes but they talked to Porsche and got a list of extra tests to run on the PCM but said they thought it was a faulty XM module and were going to replace the PCM

I have Ipod problems. It usually recognizes it and lists tracks, but I always have to disconnect and reconnect it to get audio. Well, the other day on a 400+ mile road trip the damn thing decides it does not recognize the Ipod!

Had a call from my dealer today about my AWOL XM Radio. We got the same answer as you DHH - complete replacement of the head unit is what Porsche wants to do. Waiting on parts from the Fatherland...

As for the XM presets being erased I bet it has to do with which key you're using. The key controls, all presets so key #1 will show different presets as key #2. This goes for seats, volume, all radio preset stations PCM default display in dash and probaly other things I cant think of.

Far too aggressive for me - the key should just remember the seat at best.

I have two different key chains for my keys now and never use key #2.

Also - read my post about my 12 days out of service with my PCM replacement.
