Question Panni v6'ers or v8'ers would you do it again or get a V8 or a V6 ???

I sometimes look for a good deal and then I am sorry for not really getting what I wanted.

So my question is: For those of you that have gotten a V6, would you do it again or get a V8 ??? The time you test drive is so limited and does not really give you the opportunity to drive the car the way you would on a day by day basis.

Thoughts on if you would get a V6 again or spend the additional dollars for a V8.

Also for the V8 ers, would you spend less and get a V6 ???

By the time I get done with the Wheels etc, I am sure it will look amazing, but looks only get you so far. I want to be happy with the performance.

I currently have a Mercedes CLS 550 (2011) and that car is very quick and nibble as my DD

I own a P2S (V8) and have driven the P2 on several occasions and can tell you that it would be a difficult decision. The 8 definitely has more pure pulling power, but doesn't ride any better, and definitely doesn't handle any better given the lighter front end of the 6. I didn't think there was much difference in exhaust note either, given the 'quiter' nature of the Panamera models. And it's not as if the 8 comes with a fair amount of additional standard equipment either. In fact, other that the exhaust tips and chrome window trim, I'm not entirely sure if there is any other difference in standard equipment. Once you add the options that you want, it all depends on what your 'budget' is. Of course, it's also a little tricky finding a Panamera 6 with some of the costlier options that you might put on the S (Air Suspension, Sport Chrono, Vented Seats, etc).

Having said all of that, I'm currently working on trading my P2S, getting a Spyder & Explorer, and saving $300+/month...so if anyone's interested

I have an '11 Panamera S that I traded an '09 Carrera S on. I love the Panamera. It drives great and looks fantastic. Every time I gas up, I have 5 or 6 people climbing all over the car, just lusting. If I had kept the Carrera, I would be just as happy with the V6 Panamera. It is lighter, and with the right options, would serve me very well. However, not having the "other Porsche" in the garage, the Pannie S makes me happier. You really can't go wrong with either one, as long as you get the options you really want.

I am totally satisfied with the V6 as a daily driver sedan. This could be the best purchase I have ever made.

I'm a first time Porsche owner (V6i) but I have driven a S model. Yes, the V8 has more HP and TQ but it is not that much of a difference from my butt dyno. I am extremely happy with the V6 power while saving around $15K ... which could be used for more upgrades, wheels, etc. Also, tuners are just coming out with V6 exhaust, intakes, ECU, etc. that will probably get the V6 up to or surpass V8 performance numbers for way less than $15K. As for resale, I think the V6 has a greater audience due to its lower price and better fuel economy ... which is a plus in these times.

Reminds me of this other Panamera owner I met at a shop. He asked me, "You got a V6, why didn't you get the S model?" I replied, "You got a S model, why didn't you get a turbo?" He quickly shut up.

I have V6 -4 with full options and I'm satisfied with it's power although it's not the first thing I look at when I made my choice.. It's just fast, I don't think I would need more while my child and wife also in it.. The V6 is cheaper, it has low fuel consumption, it has lower tax ratio and insurance cost less than V8 models..

Drove a V6 while my Turbo was being serviced. Hindsight being 20/20 I would have been happy with the V6 with some FabSpeed upgrades, no question. I fell for the it's a 911 w/ 4 doors tag line. Nobody ever ask what model it is, they all just say "I've never seen a 4 door Porsche before".

1 week with the V6 Panamera 4. I have not felt the need for more than the 300 HP, so far. Oh my, this car is really impressive. Extremely pleased.

Thanks for starting this thread. I weighed off buying a new CTT or PTT for three months before choosing the CTT last fall for a variety of reasons. That said, might give the Avant my wife is driving to my kids this spring so starting to think again about a Panamera...but having three new Porsche Turbos in the garage would be decadent - even if I could afford it - but might be able to rationalize a P6-4....but then I was thinking might as well get an 8...and than there is always the guy who says nice car - did you ever drive a Turbo?>>

Ignore what people say, it's not a 911, it's a 4 door sedan, many people buy it because it has 4 doors and can carry family members comfortably..

^^^^ Thats exactly it right there. The V-6 is plenty good in North America...I would say the V6 effortlessly pulls to about 140...can hit 200 KMPH very very easily -- I'm not going to comment any more on that

The reason why the V8 doesn't feel that much more powerful is because in city driving you guys probably don't rev it that high, if revved high obviously the car will fly -- but you likely will seldom get that opportunity in your congested cities you guys live in. As a commuter car the V6 has more than enough power, and great value too.

The reality is at 150 KMPH here in Ontario, you get your license suspended, a 10 000 dollar fine, and the car gets impounded.

Simply put, the V6 has plenty power. I was shocked at the amount of down low torque the V6 has...it makes probably close to 80+% of its torque near 2000 RPM...meaning its light and agile in the city off the line, plus PDK probably helps with that sensation. This car feels light, our Panamera 4 weighs 100 KG more than my 335xi and feels MORE agile than the 335xi! Just doesn't have that high revving smooth engine.

The bottom line is simple:

1. Why pay more for the V8 unless you're made of money? You're getting the same status, prestige, and general performance as the V8/Turbo, just not the engine -- and I can guarantee you this isn't a track car for most folks

2. This car has a surprising amount of torque down low for a naturally aspirated engine...in sport mode, the V6 is so agile...I am still left shocked.

3. Value -- like I said...let everyone else pay premium dollar for a V8/Turbo, the V6 base equipped (add colour paint, nice seats, and a backup camera, nothing more) is a great value car and might fun too.

4. Only complaint about all Panamera's -- what the hell is up with a 6500 rpm redline? Thats weak, but I know why its there -- these engines don't rev that high, but make a lot of torque down low.

5. Overall, I simply don't see why you'd pay more money for the V8 unless you want to track it, drive at very high speeds (autobahn etc), or have a lot of money lying around. THe V6 has enough power to TOW as well

6. Gas economy - sure we don't care about how much we pay for gas. But it does feel good, the Panny 4 still drinks...but much less than a V8, in fact less than my 335xi.

7. Bottom line = VALUE! Its a cool car at what I would argue...a bargain price. Its a Porsche!

If you have those kind of insecurities, good luck to you.

I personally could care less what anyone thinks.
