Blew my eardrums!

Does anyone else have an almost deafening wind noise in the cabin when only the 2 rear windows are down? It only happens over 40mph and is a real deep thumping base sound. It was so loud that it made my ears ring.

Just open the sunroof in the tilted vent position and it will go away.

It is a normal dynamic of differences in air pressure inside and outside cabin

You are experiencing a phenomenon known in fluid dynamics as "Bernoulli's principle".

This can be reproduced in many different vehicles - it's essentially a matter of how the air pressure in/around the car is disrupted by the vehicle traveling through it (various openings in the vehicle, at specific locations, can cause further disruption). By opening other windows you're creating a better balance of air pressure inside and outside the vehicle, and as a result the chopping sound goes away.

Every car I've ever owned has done this with one or more certain window(s) open.

Easier than opening the sunroof would be shutting the back windows. Problem solved. I'm just kidding.
