engine down, suggestions?

My friend's engine just blew, bent rod and broken sleeve, i suppose new aftermarket stronger rods are going in but what can he do about the sleeve?

It doesn't seem like they can be sold from the dealership. Can it come from an other used engine? Is there anything aftermarket?

I don't know anything about these engine internals, please educate me.

Engine has a set of Tial A28 running water meth and 1,4bar, ran well for a lot of time but i guess all this strees took it's toll on it.

thanks

Turbo Engine

There was a guy selling a used 996 Turbo engine in the Marketplace back in September. Don't know if he ever sold it. Do a search on "Turbo Engine."

it was me. still have it if theres interest. in regards to the sleeves you can do what I'm doing. LAsleeves in steel with steel rings . you can do either 3.6 or 3.8 with pistons if going bigger. rods and head bolts are a must. I'm using the 12mm head studs which require machining to fit but can be torqued to almost 3 times factory specs . I'm done with lifting heads. i also did a gt3 oil pump more as maintenance since the motor had approx 106,000 miles on the pump. it was cheap and the case is open anyway. you need to replace all the bearings, seals and orings as well. freshen the entire motor while its open.

i also know a guy who has a set of sleeves that have 5000 miles on them. perfect shape. can probably get them pretty cheap

or buy mine!

do you have a link to the aftermarket sleeves you are talking about? Also, can you give me some details about the 5000 miles used sleeves, is that from you or a friend of yours? send me some details by PM if you can.

thanks
