Am I crazy? PTT vs Maserati gts

Thinking about trading my PTT for a Maserati Gran turismo s . Am I nuts? I drove the Gran turismo and was very impressed. The exhaust note is intoxicating. Shifting is quick. The car is more engaging then the PTT. Have any PTT owners had Maserati's? Will I regret this?

The problem with the PTT is that its too refined, too quiet and German engineers have their own logic and it doesnt feel as quick as it is. The Maser is a flashy, noisy, Italian GT car. It is considerably slower in a straight line and in the corners, but it FEELS faster. Actually its more compareable to a BMW 550d in the straight line. After the PTT, I still think it will lose its orignal appeal as you will start to notice that it lacks the awd traction the PTT has and that although it makes a sound like it is a rocket, well in terms of speed its not that quick. I would test drive the PGTS. I think you might like that too. For me Italian cars are too much of show and the Maseratis of the past had poor reliability.

Im switching from a Maser GTS to a PTTS. Yes, the GTS is "more engaging", and I do love the exhaust. However, it's simply not as comfortable (by a lot) as the panamera in terms of daily driving, and the other factor is speed; I don't know how you feel, but I don't like it when I get easily overtaken by an m3...

also, the trunk is basically unusable.. it's the smallest car trunk i've ever seen in order to make space for the rear seats. furthermore, the electronics such as the satnav and audio is hard to use, and the harddrive takes forever to import music into the car.

so basically, the tradeoff is simply:

attention+looks+SOUND vs speed+practicality+handling+comfort (although the maser gts is already a lot more practical as a daily drive compared to other 'exotics'

oh and I agree with the feeling faster part. When I drove a Panamera Turbo, I felt like i was going at 80kph when i was going 140kph. on my maser, the passengers usually tell me to slow down when I'm going below the speed limit

I also don't think you can compare a 2 to a 4 door. The exhaust note of all the maserati's is fantastic as is there interiors. But the real challenge will be when the new Quatroporte comes out late this year - I am #1 on my dealer's list for the car - I think it will be a true viable alternative to the PTT - which I think is the best 4 door available in the market today.

Go on You Tube and search for Top Gear comparision of PTT vs Raptide vs Maserati

It is a all 4 door show down but a very interesting perspective. Not as fast as the PTT, but they liked it better overall for other reasons.

Switching to a 2 door tourning GT Car is a whole different ball game. If you considering making a change to a car like that I think you also have to consider the Bentley GT Speed. I went to a Bentley event at the track and was blown away by how good such a big car can be.

Good luck finding the right niche for you!

Top Gear always do that, but that Maserati besides looks and sound has got nothing going for it. I'd buy a Panamera over a QP GTS any day...

Here you go, its the quatroporte...check out the comparison at the beginning, but dont forget also to look at the airfield drag race at the very end of the episode.

.
I haven't "owned" either one of these 2 but have been looking (to ease the boredom)

IMO the Mas GTS is one of the most beautiful cars "out there" - the salespeople all want to start the engine "so ya can listen to the sound" - big deal

another opinion that the trunk is worthless

I don't care for the looks of the Panamera's rear (as bad as my E60 M5) and rear vision is horrible

if I was single and 30 years old I'd get the GTS

Noooo. PTT all the way. A maserati gts is like a panamera 4s. Mase is not comparable to a turbo!!
