Video: Race M5 vs PTTS
Video: Race M5 vs PTTS
Nice job even from about 50km/h and 22 inch wheels and standard brakes! From a dig the M5 would not be visible in these videos

Kip, no surprises here, the 22's might've not helped, but the brakes comments quite did not get, are they noticeably lighter?
I guess that after selling M5Board he can afford an M5 now, glad for him, he really is an enthusiast.
Nice videos, now I know I got to watch out. I too have 22" anchors...

Video races are for fun, not real life. I love to look at these videos and think this video shows how close these cars really are, was it even a car length? How much fuel does each car have? PTTS tank is 100 liters, what octane fuel? With a little manipulation (not saying that it is), M5 empty tank PTTS full tank, you get close to a 100kg difference. You really think you would see a video of a Panamera beating a BMW M5 even if it was equal, again I am not saying it is, but we would never see a video like that in a BMW event. Why do you think he gets press cars? We will also never see a video from dig. To be honest I was expecting a video, where the M5 is would beat the PTTS by 500 meters.

Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB)...
...The key advantage of PCCB is the extremely low weight of the ceramic brake discs, which are approximately 50% lighter than standard discs of similar design and size. As well as enhancing performance and fuel economy, this has helped to reduce unsprung and rotating masses significantly. The consequence of this is better road holding and increased comfort, particularly on uneven roads, as well as greater agility and improved handling.

Its a press car, not Gustavs. He has a M3.

What is the savings for PCCB? 100lbs? More? Now it will interesting if its that big.
I still like the looks of the P-car more and the exclusivity, that plus the close performance makes it a winner in my book.
Why post this stuff? The "rolling start" is so weak, IMO. 2 great cars who really cares about the straight line speed? You prove nothing with a rolling start. Total waste, if your gonna race, race. Forget saving the drivetrain it's under warranty.
I do not see anything wrong with rolling these cars. From a dig as pointed before the P-car has a humongous advantage.
What driver error, when both cars have launch control? Why not roll from 5km/h? The 50km/h is just stupid and harder to keep the races even. One car might have 53km/h and the other one 48km/h. They never show the vbox data of how the race really went. Only reason for 50 is to get the race to the M5s optimal point. This allready began with the e55 amg where it would beat the crap out of the e60 from a dig, but lost in a race from 50km/h. It had moretorque and less power than the m5, see the similarity?

Can this be a problem of engaging engaging the overboost? The problem is that it doesnt engage allways, even if you press the throttle fully, you have to kick it like kickdown to get the extra 50nm. On the autobahn I couldnt activate it every time. Actually think its a stupid function, why not have the power all the time? Also the PTTS rides suspiciously high and bounces around (compare it to the CLS) like in comfort mode, in sport plus mode the car should be 2,5cm lower than usual its very stiff, was the car even in sport plus mode? DOes anyone know of it has to be desengaged if you have 22 inch wheels?

On the caption It says PP, then when racing the M it does not state it. There is something fishy about these races. The M destroys the Merc and the Merc keeps up with the P-car, while the P-car keeps up with the M.
Whos on second, who is...

I have the same wheels and the overboost and sport plus do work. The car is lowered to sport plus levels, it is not lowered anymore. He could drop it a little bit more by using links, this is not the case as I have the same drop.
But the car in the video bounces a lot more than the cls, is your lowered suspension also that soft? My car is stiffer than that in sport+. I told you the videos are for fun purpouses only, the result is allways the same, the m5 beats all of the competition.
Do you have pdcc, could that affect it, because I only feel it in comfort mode...
I mean it levels the car sideways, but could it level it up also back-front, because when I stand on a slope the ar levels itself, you can hear it.
They hate the Panamera even more than they do the Merc
I still think in some of the races the car was not necessarily in overboost, but who knows. AS these cars are tenths of a sec apart from each other in the vids -250km/h, its clear the PTTS destroys them from the dig.
BTW MIA997TTbeast, your car history is very similar to mine... E55 AMG (would have bought the M5 if the SMG would have been reliable) the 997TT tip with SC, then Ptt. You have an excellent car taste

I do have PDCC.
The only thing is that I did not have a E55, all the other cars yes. You mean taste or waste of money? Hard to say.
I was on the M5board before and now that I see your avatar on it, now I know who you are, I always wondered what a Porsche guy was posting on a BMW and hating on the M. Yes, you did sometimes
I just can't get over the fact the Merc was so close... I guess I'll have my friend race me. We did go to a quarter mile event not long ago and his has exhaust and PP, and he was only doing 12's mids and lows, while my numbers were on the 11.7, 11.8. This is why I do not know whats up.
