Going Above 100MPH, Low Tire Pressure

ARGH! It is annoying to receive a low tire pressure warning when I go above 100MPH... but at the same time I love how great the car is, and how it reminds me I could be driving above 100MPH more safely if the tires are properly inflated. Got to fill up my tires the next time I stop.

(weren't you "stopped" when you posted this..?)

(I don't condone driving over 100 mph, but..) I carry a 12v tire pump in the trunk, as I've got (very) slow leaks in 2 of my tires and I drive my car on extended fun trips

You need to check those leaks. You've either got some punctures, or the tire wasn't mounted properly.

it could be just low on air or a leak

leaks often happen at the valve stem. some can be repaired without taking the tire off. if you find yourself needing to top off air every couple of weeks, you should have the tire checked by a good tire shop. they often will do it for free actually. just dont go to those big chains that tend to upsell you.

Yes, I was stopped. A slow leak may also be because of a bent rim (don't ask how I know...)

.
tires were removed and checked for leaks - none

wheels were checked for bends (OEM but chromed) - none

wheels were cleaned before tires remounted - no leaks since (but I still carry the 12v puffer in the trunk)

Sounds like they just didn't clean/seal the beads properly before mounting - problem solved. Glad that's all it was.

Speaking of tire pressure... I have 22's and the car wants me to fill them up to at least 42psi F and 39 R... Is this high? When you go to Fill Info, if the tires are at 40 F and 39 R it tells me that I'm -4 in the fronts and 0 in the back (which means the back are fine but the fronts need 4 more psi)

Should I have them always at 44 or should I lower them to like 40 and tell the system to learn this is what I goddamn want...

What should I do?
