Problems and fixes in the Panamera
As we have seen so far the problems seem to be shared and the Panny is definately not the most reliable car out there. Thought Id start a thread with my problems and fixed. Feel free to join in:
-Back chrome window ornaments are lose.
Fixed under warranty with new ones.
-Panamera text is bubbling.
Fixed under warranty with new ones.
-Sport exhaust tips oxidated.
Fixed under warranty with new ones.
-Oil pressure monitoring failure
Fixed with the front end electronics recall.
-Fallen off hood handle.
Waiting for it to be fixed.
-Metallic rattle from door aluminum ornament.
Fixed under warranty by adding filling.
-Squeeking ceramic brakes.
Probably no permanent fix available.
-The high pitch whistle.
It is the crack begween bootlid and roof. You can test this by placing a tape on it. If someone sits in the back the will know it comes from the back, from the front its hard to localize. Cure is change bootlid insulation under warranty and possible move rear trunk to narrow the trunk. The Flute goes away. I only changed the seal and the noise went down 90%, didnt want cosmetically to lift the boot, which seems to cure it fully.
In addition there have been major recalls:

-seat belt mount issue
-Ti-Al turbo fire hazard issue
So now they are going to change my turbos and lift the engine out because of the powerkit recall...
I also have noticed my engine vents are running almost constantly, even if it is not warm and no aircon on. Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about your problems...but then again, in the world of car problems those really don't sound that bad! I've had a 4S for nearly a year now, and after having a couple of very minor issues fixed early on it's been flawless! I mean, name a car that does not have at least a few minor flaws...
Yes, but the car goes to the shop AGAIN and Im pretty sure taking the whole engine will take atleast a week. Plus there is a risk that there will be a new problem when reassembling the engine parts. Meanwhile I get a substitute vw polo during the only two months of summer we have here after it just was in the shop for a week because of the oil monitoring failure. There seems to be a new fault around the corner waiting every week. Plus there is atleast 1-2 weeks of que to the shop when a fault arises...
The point of this thread is to get the problems and fixes in one thread, so people wouldnt ask the same questions over and over again. Sometimes they are hard to find with a search.

My only problems, in 27K miles, have all involved the electrical/electronic systems. I had intermittent failures of the indicator lights on the left side of the console and occasional "freeze-ups" in the nav system. I also had a couple of failures of the air suspension to the extent that it stuck in one setting and couldn't be changed. All of the problems occurred infrequently, and all of them would go away by themselves. It took a few visits to the dealer, but ultimately a software update appears to have resolved all the issues.
My only remaining problem with my 4S Panny is that I wish they'd had the GTS available when I bought it...

I bought a brand new 4S in June. It has been in the shop twice in less than 60 days of ownership wnad less than 1300 miles. The first issue was a faulty drivers rear view mirror automaticalyy pointing down to the ground upon entry of the car and the rear window motor keep running to point the mirror down to the ground. (2 week fix)
I had the same front end high pitch noise followed by the check engine lights. The Oil Seperator had failed causing too much gasoline to be injected in the engine. The oil Seperator regualtes the oil, air, and gas mix. When it failed, the car thought it wasn't getting enough gas into the mixture. (4 day fix). Unfortunaltely I was 300 miles away from home. Nightmare getting back home after getting the car towed from the side of the road with the family.
My wife refuses to ride in my lemon at this point...lol She was pissed that it broke down and we were so far from home. I also had 2 toddlers in the back seat.
Hope this helps with your front end high pitch noise...

I can update on the the high-pitch whistle coming from the front at certain speeds. I have this issue on a new PGTS, the sound has been pinpointed as coming through the right center console air vent - this can be confirmed by manually closing the vent and almost eliminating the sound. After 3 rides with the lead technician at my dealership, including varying the temperature setting from cold to hot which also reduced the noise and finally confirming a fix with Porsche in Germany, they believe the problem is with feedback from the front air blower/fan and have replaced it. Interestingly, the brand new Panamera 4 loaner I am driving has the exact same issue!!!! I hope the air blower is the fix for the whistle noise, otherwise the car has been absolutely perfect. Picking the car back up later today.

Panamera high Pitch noise
2010 Panamera 4S:
high pitch and whistle at speeds over 55mph, only while accelerating and decelerating; best heard if driving on asphalt on a relatively flat hwy and the noise is bothersome in speeds of 65 mph and more. whistle is heard in deceleration. the high pitch and whistle disappears when car is in cruise control. noise returns immediately if gas pedal is depressed while cruise control is active.
So far the Porsche dealer has not been able to fix the problem and claim all Panamera 4S have the same noise! i have driven a loaner panamera 6 cylinder and a Panamra 4 and they had no noise.

The seat memory wasn't working when I took delivery...first service visit resulted in problem being diagnosed and new module ordered; module installed at second service, but programming was unsuccessful; third service and problem fixed. No other problems to report so far.

Update: I was told prior to pick-up that the problem was traced to a bad resistor in the blower fan which was creating the high-frequency noise. The resistor was replaced and car tested by the tech, confirming no more noise. I was excited when I got the car back and proceeded to the highway, where I heard the noise immediately within 5 seconds of driving. Absolutely no difference
