Winter Tire Questions on Panamera Turbo

I just bought a 2010 Panamera Turbo as my daily driver and of course it snows within days of picking it up...so I need to think about snow tire options. I am located in South Jersey and it really doesn't snow a lot but we can get hit here and there. Any experiences and or help would be greatly appreciated in helping me make the best decision. The following is what I am considering:

1. Porsche is having a 15% off snow tire wheel set ups and has a set of 19" panamera wheels and tires available for a reasonable price. This would probably be the best option but I really hate the look of the 19"s compared to the Turbo II wheels on it now.

2. I could get a set of Michelin Pilot sports All seasons and just have it as my year around set up. I assume though I would be sacrificing handling all year for just a little better performance in the inclement weather. This option seems like the most hands off option though.

3. The last option is buying set of Pirelli SottoZeros for the Turbo II wheels and just mount them for the winter and then remount my summer tires in the spring. The dealer said the mounting and un-mounting of the tires could damage the beading, although unlikely.

If you are looking for something quick and reasonable price, I have a winter set posted in the marketplace forum. I am in Morristown NJ, PM if interested.

I, too, just recently bought a 2010 PTT for my daily driver. I live in the Midwest and have similar issues with winter weather (not a ton of snow and ice but enough that I had to consider a winter setup). I went with the Pirelli SottoZeros on my 20" Turbo IIs and will have the dealer remount my Michelin PSS in the Spring. I asked about issues with taking tires on and off and they said it wasn't a problem. Had the car a month when first snow hit. She did great (so far).

Option 3 is the one I am leaning towards. Seems like the best of both worlds without having to spend all that extra money on the 20" rims.

I went with option 3 on my 2014 Panny GTS. I live in Toronto, Canada and our winters are pretty rough. I had the same setup on my last car (2013 BMW 650 Gran Coupe xDrive) with the Pirelli on 20" rims..the car was all wheel drive and combined with the Pirelli Sottozero never had a problem during Canadian winter months....even went on a couple of ski trips and drove through some pretty severe snow with ease! Not too mention having Turbo II wheels on your car during the winter months as opposed to slapping on some ok wheels in 19" or smaller just isn't an option for me!

I run Pirelli SottoZeros on 18 inch Porsche rims on my 2010 4S as my winter tires. I LOVE those tires! Makes me wonder why I bother to change to summer tires in the spring...

Same tires, but actually the performance is in another league compared to my michelin ps2 tires in the summer. You usually notice it the day you make the change. Still, have managed with 20 inch tires in the harsh Finnish winters.

19'' Panamera Alloy Turbo Wheels and Snow Tire Set

I have a brand new in the box Panamera wheel and snow tire set. It's on ebay right now. Save at least 60% from what the dealer wants.
