Power steering plus Again

I am about to order a GTS and I am still unsure about the power steering plus option. I like a firmer steering feel and think I am even willing to give up the Porsche Entry and Drive not to get it. I have not driven a panamera without it but the one with seemed to have very light steering at low speeds. Has any one driven both and can compare them. Thank you in advance.

It is a non-issue

Like you I too prefer firm steering and was hesitant to get the entry & drive because it came with power steering plus. I was worried about it while waiting for my 2014 GTS to replace my base Panamera (which did not have power steering plus). Turns out it is a non-issue. The boost is actually helpful when parking and goes away at about 5-10 mph and not noticeable at all as soon as I step on the gas. I actually am glad I have it - and would have sworn the opposite before I had a chance to drive the car for more than 20 minutes.

No PSP on my PTT, did not have a choice as I purchased a dealer's inventory but I doubt I will option one with it. A post in the 991 section mentioned that PSP is activated at speed below 30mph.

I drove both as well, and perhaps it was all "in my head," but I did not like it. At slow speeds, felt like I was driving a cadillac. I am shocked that they have now paired it with such a necessary option as keyless go. My salesman initially was trying to suggest I get it, and told me straight up that their porsche market for this car is a more mature crowd that would like this option (that must be BS, as I am very young 47 yo ha), so I guess the dealer was concerned about resale of these cars post lease. Anyway, I did not get it, but luckily, in '13, it was a stand alone option.

Anyway, I would trust tguerino, since he has the '14 model, and keyless go is such a darn nice feature (especially on a $120K + car) keep us posted

Love it! Makes the car extremely sharp. When I skipped to a car without it,I first thought there was something wrong with the power steering. I think this is a manual/automatic type of question, where you either appreciate technology or want the good old days.

Your helping me here.. thanks for this post. Going to test one with and without.. I guess considering the massive downtown driving I do I can't see how it would not help.

My car has it and I like the reduced effort in parking lots. At speed it firms up nicely. I've driven loaner cars without it and those are fine, too, but just takes more effort maneuvering at low speed. Entry & Drive is a must though for a car in this segment, so this should be an easy decision.

Agreed. E&D is a given on this caliber vehicle. It should be standard in all models except for maybe a budget-minded base V6.

Thanks for the responses thus far. I have read that the steering firms up at speed but what mph is this? I read 10 mph and 30 mph. Can anyone tell me what the speed it is ? Having to wait until 30 mph may be to high for me. I do want the E&D, but I hate soft steering.

I have it in my 2012 PTT - it begins picking up weight immediately as you proceed. Only find it very light in parking lot situations, which is nice. At any normal driving speed it is nicely weighted.

I drove two cars with and with out it, I find it horrible. I went to the dealer to perhaps trade in my 991 C4S for a GTS, growing family. The car with power steering plus had zero feel/feedback. At no time at any speed did I have any idea what the front wheels were doing. There is such a large disconnect to the driver, not that I was expecting 997 steering feel in either car, but it felt like a boat compared to my 991. Both cars had 20" wheels.
