Alarm randomly triggers on MY14 Panamera
Alarm randomly triggers on MY14 Panamera
I'm about two weeks into owning the MY14 Panamera and loving it! I have the keyless entry & drive option (FOB inserted in the car, key in my pocket) and sadly the alarm likes to go off throughout the day when the car is parked outside my office. I removed the key from my pocket and place it on my desk, that stopped the problem happening from hourly to maybe 2x per day.
Has anyone else had issues with their alarm randomly triggering? Leaving the car unlocked all day in an urban environment isn't the greatest idea!
thx.

I had the alarm go off when I opened the door (after it was automatically unlocked for me), once every few months. But not when the car was just sitting. A recent software update they applied may fix my issue according to my service advisor. So far, so good.
You might try turning off the interior sensors and see if that helps. Sometimes they go bad or could be too sensitive.

I agree, try turning off the interior sensor (on a pillar on the side of the driver's seat). You do that with a switch or hold the lock button for 10 sec (I think).
I had it come on when my phone holder suction cup fell off the flat surface. Or maybe there is a fly in your car. LOL.

Porsche dealer said this interior motion sensor issue is a known problem to Porsche and that it is occurring on some Panamera, Macan, and Cayenne models. They said I can expect some notification in the mail. First night of ownership was a very bad one with alarm going off in hotel parking lot. Wish they would have told me about a "known" issue.
OMFG
This car alarm is driving me crazy. It goes off at the grocery store. It goes off parked in my driveway in front of my house. It just went off while parked in my driveway on the side of my house. I was about 50ft away when it happened.
This is nuts.
Is there a way to user-disable this thing until I get it the dealer? The way I read it, the button on the B pillar is a one use disable only, correct?

Button on the pillar disables the interior sensors only. Do you have something inside of the car all the time that moves and triggers the alarm? If you dont then you have to go to the dealer. There is a problem with some sort of sensor (i cant remember which one) that triggers the alarm all the time. Dealer should know. If you search the forum you will find what sensor it is.

I left mine at the dealer last week. According to them there's nothing they can do - Porsche hasn't released a firmware update for the Panamera yet (he said there is one for the Macan) or a new alarm module. Until then, (1) hit the interior B pillar button, (2) double click your remote or (3) deal with intermittent alarm triggers.

Sweet.
Nothing better than a car that false alarms. Not embarassing walking back to the one car in the parking lot that's screaming about nothing...
Welcome to 1990.

Went to meet my Service Manager today. Had a good chat with him about this issue and some other stuff.
Here's the take-away:
The supplier of the electrical component (whether it's a board or a module or a sensor) produced a bad batch or batches. Porsche and the supplier had no way to track these defective components (which is just bizarre).
It is seemingly a random issue among the 2014 Panamera population.
Replacements parts are just now entering the distribution channel. My vehicle is in line to receive new parts. There is no firm timeline. My deciphering of the conversation made it sound like a week to perhaps several weeks.
Bottom line: I look at this as a huge black eye for Porsche. It speaks to poor production controls and poor control over suppliers. We're now well into the next model year and parts are still not readily available.

No word on any parts making their way into dealer hands.
Now I know this doesn't rank up there with the engine problems the 991 GT3 owners have gone through, but this is just stupid.
Fix the problem! NOBODY enjoys returning to their car with the car alarm going off. And I shouldn't have to put a post-it note on the side window as a reminder to manually disable the sensor.
