And here is mine in the same place (UK ‘10 PTT).
the alarm unit (made by Cobra, and as fitted to a plethora of VW group cars).
it is inside the aluminium box.

same model same year. Took my car for detailing and after they pressure washed my tires to remove some mud debris... I noticed my car doesn’t do the double chirp after locking anymore. Wondering if that has any correlation... bringing the car in for some recalls tomorrow... hoping they can check this out too without charging an arm & leg.

bumping this old thread, has anyone figured out a way to swap the horn to a more up to date 'beep beep' like the 991s?

I'm interested too. Would love to not have a loud horn beep on my 2012.

so many scenarios mine does 1 beep when locking from remote or door handle buttons ( KEYLESS ) but if i lock from trunk button then no sound, only two flashes.
I did try to leave door or trunk open and in that case it does 3 times beep and does not lock.
this 1 beep has started recently, I think KEYLESS did not work due too low battery as I wasn't driving car for a prolonged time, so I did use physical key to open drivers door. But before that last 10 years I haven't heard any beeps while locking my PPTS
I've went through Panamera 970 manual and found explanations related ONLY to 2 beeps and no other scenarios , so W.T. F., how is possible such mess....

I found DIY solution

Download a mobile app such as Carista or OBDFusion on your smartphone. Purchase a cheap Bluetooth OBD-II adapter (like an OBDLink LX or Carista Adapter) and plug it into the port under your driver-side dash. Go to Customize ➔ Locking/Alarm ➔ change Acoustic confirmation when locking to No.

Has anybody tried this?
