In the end maybe the PTT was the right move. The torque is fantastic...it just smokes just about anything. It is a serious jump in power from GTS, even from my 991S. just more effortless to make the power. If I had the GTS I think I'd find it to be just enough...but not excessive. The PTT has plenty in reserve.

I found tonight though that I like the sport plus chassis setting the best. Lowest ride height. That made it feel just like the GTS I have driven suspension-wise. GTS in comfort mode rides lower but each in sport plus have same ride height.

Hahaha... it really is. I find myself hoping to get caught at red lights just so I can mash the pedal when it turns green (:

What a great vehicle! This is a fun, engaging vehicle. Much better then any car I have had in the past (including: 2014 Mercedes E63AMGS, 2011 PTT, 2009 Maserati GT and 2007 BMW M6). I can't believe the difference between the 2011 PTT and the 2014 PTTS, better shifting and much better exhaust note. I love the torque pull the turbo has and can't wait until I can go past 4200 RPMs. Whatever you decide I hope you enjoy it.
Can u outline what is better in the 2014 vs the 2011? I have a 2010 PTT, and i will definitely dump it once the CPO runs out; as i dont think it is very sorted out - however, i would get a later model if i could be convinced i am suffering from first year model syndrome.

Well I have driven a 2012 turbo S and although fast as stink, it was nothing compared to the GTS experience.

Now having a 2014 PTT I can tell you the differences are vast: better PDK mapping and shift times, updated suspension, much better exhaust, revamped air intake, rear end...the mapping of engine to transmission seems to be sorted. I only have 600 miles on it but damn, this thing is awesome.

That is one of my biggest gripes with the 2010 - not infrequently, PDK shifting at lower gears is clunky and not smooth; in addition; it has been in the shop several times for suspension creaks

But there is nothing else out there that i have driven that is as engaging as the PTT

Yep I've heard about that stuff. They started revamping suspension for 2013 and continued for 2014. The PDK shifts like my 991 did if that helps any.

The simplist way to explain it is my 2014 PTTS is much more engaging / visceral then my 2011 PTT. Much better exhaust note and crisper shifting. Much more FUN !

And the whole engine mapping manages the turbo much better.

Question is would an ecu upgrade sort all the issues of the first year syndrome?

It very well might help solve some of that. Maybe the boys at GIAC could answer that question? What I noticed with the 2014 is that when in Sport mode and just driving in automatic, the gearing is set up to manage the engine/turbo much, much better. Not sure if the ratios are adjusted or just the ECU mapping itself.
