14 PTT vs 15GTS

I have a 14 PTT executive and can trade basically strait for a 15 GTS. It is my wife's car and she will never use all the power.

She love the way the PTT rides and I can't compromise here or she will kill me.

I would be giving up some stuff like soft close doors and burmester that she loves and the back seat entertainment system but would gain a year on warranty a few things hers doesn't have like the sport exhaust. The car would fit in the garage easier and I assume easier to park being 6 inches shorter.

My question - is the GTS ride the same as a normal PTT. Both have air suspension. The GTS does not have PDDC. Is it more sporty or as she would say rough. She also never takes it it out of normal suspension mode

The GTS will not ride as compliant as the PTT.

Also the longer wheelbase of the executive model is helping ride quality too. Usually the longer wheelbase, the smoother the ride.

+2. If she is concerned about ride quality just keep the turbo.

Do you say this from drives or just the length of the wheelbase.

I understand 6 inches on wheelbase but if the suspension takes care of it then it could be about the same

Going to drive Saturday so hopefully will know. From research it will be better from resale with the GTS so could be a lot of money difference.

I'm not sure about '15 GTS, but previous year GTS's were gave slightly more 'feel' to the road. It wasn't 'harsh' like a GT3 or GT-R, but it wasn't cushy either like the PTT (executive or not). It was a slight noticeable difference for me, but noticeable nonetheless.

Best bet is to ask her to try it out. My wife is going through something similar at the moment, and she wants another Panamera, though she isn't sure which one. Kids are taller now, so we are revisiting Executive again (thought maybe the 4S, instead of the TT). She doesn't mind a slightly harsher ride, so the difference would be irrelevant to her.

My problem - Is that she will not step foot in a dealership from past bad experiences (non premium dealer) so I have to try to figure it out for her.

This way I get more what I want but she still has the Monday morning quarterback to fall back on.

I will see what I think Saturday and go from there. It is obvious from my research that the GTS will be better financially but wife's don't always work that way on cars. Other stuff yes. Cars no.

Generally speaking, the more stretched the wheelbase is the cushier the ride by default. Then you have a softer suspension in the turbo which makes it even better.

What you're giving up with a longer wheelbase is handling capabilities. This isn't just by test drives. It is common knowledge.

Because I hate dealerships more than my wife, she has taken cars out for test drives, came to the house to pick me up, we'd review it, she'd drop me off at home, then she returns the car. This also ensures that she can't be talked into buying unless I go back with her. So we make sure we take the night to discuss the purchase.

What I was suggesting - bring the car to your house and take her somewhere, or suggest that she drives somewhere (normal errand/lunch/etc...). Drop her off at home, return the car. Ask her opinion.
