To bring things back on topic...I assume the original poster doesn't have the thermal/noise insulated glass. If he does, then a windshield mounted radar detector wouldn't work very well.

Let the dealer wire your detector through the fuse box and there will be no warranty issue if you end up having electrical issues. I too have a perfect driving record and I don't have a fake badge.

And from your post it shows what good advise you give. So the dealer is going to wire an aftermarket non oem electrical device to your car and if it fries the wiring they will cover it? LOL Think you should read the warranty manual.
