GTS or Turbo...
GTS or Turbo...
Hello Everyone,
New member here and I thank you on advance for your input and reply.
How many miles is too much to but used? Obviously need to be cautious about service mile markers. What years are better than others and why?
I test drove the '15 GTS and I'm ruined. I can't wait to get a Used GTS or Turbo.

For turbo the first big maintenance is 30,000 miles... the next one is at 60,000.
I bought a 2012 with 30,100 right after it had the maintenance performed. That was the sweet spot for the turbo.

HUGE fan of the immediate acceleration the GTS' N/A v8 provides -- quite addictive. Haven't personally driven the turbo, but will always remember my wife's "Holy S*!t" comment when she goosed the turbo's throttle at 40mph during a test drive. Wife and I have zero regrets with our GTS decision.
I have a 2015 GTS that is plenty fast. Haven't driven a turbo, but can't imagine needing that much power; the GTS will get you in trouble plenty fast enough.

I have a PTT but drove a gts on the smaller back roads of PA and must say the gts would be a great choice.
That said, last weekend, raced a 2014 Camaro SS with headers, exhaust, bigger wheels, black paint, etc. We got to a light together, but the other lane had a car. so I had to slot in behind him. He got the jump, but the PTT got beside him at around 70mph; and I looked over at his dew rag and his skank gf while waving David Spade buh-bye at around 100mph -- while accelerating away into the distance. Guy looked like I shot his dog.
PTT is a sleeper, and a lot of fun.

I had the same question before I bought my PTT. I read a post on this forum that said the power of the turbo is intoxicating... that poster was spot on. The sound didn't match but Fabspeed fixed that.
I would say Turbo only if it is outfitted with some of the sports options that make it drive more like a GTS - you can get most of the options via the Sports Package.
I drove a GTS and PTT (without the sports options) back-to-back and I liked the drive better as I felt more connected to the road, the exhaust was awesome and the throttle response was very lively. The PTT engine was definitely a monster, but the rest of the package was a bit sedate for my tastes.
I ended up getting a PTT that was equipped with the aforementioned options (plus sport design steering wheel and PDCC). I am very happy with my decision.
