Damnn the interior. Center console makes a great first impression but fingerprint magnet. On top of that, buttons are much easier to use when driving as opposed to looking down and see where you're touching. Will have to experience that firsthand.

The exterior is SO MUCH MORE proportionate! I LOVE It so far. I just couldn't bring myself to buy the mid-cycle refresh Panamera TT. I rented one in LA and it was my first porsche driving experience and man what a different from other companies.

So basically, the front is more or less the same, except for some tweaks to the bumper and headlights, and the back of the car now has the lines of an A7. Curious what the new engines will be? More Audi influence to be expected?

here's a video where we can hear better the engines. Not sure I hear NA engines, rather turbo engines. Not sure if you agree, but to me their tone/growl sound more Audi-like than Porsche.

I really hope they will use the 4.0 TT engine found in the rs7. The 4.8 with mitsubishi turbochargers is really outdated now in terms of power

I agree that atmospheric engines will vanish from the Panamera lineup with this second-generation car, for better or for worse. This isn't backed up by anything more than my current gut feeling, but my guess will be:
  • Base: 3.0L TT V6 from Macan S; ~320 HP/330 lb.-ft.
  • S: 3.6L TT V6 from Macan Turbo; ~430 HP/390 lb.-ft.
  • GTS: 3.6L TT V6 from Macan Turbo OR de-tuned 4.0L TT V8; ~450 HP/410 lb.-ft.
  • Turbo/Turbo S: 4.0L TT V8; ~550-600 HP/550-650 lb.-ft.

This seems to make sense, but who knows. The current 3.0L in the S makes 420HP, so they might just continue to use it. We'll see. Maybe they have a brand new engine to offer.

  • Turbo/Turbo S: 4.0L TT V8; ~550-600 HP/550-650 lb.-ft.
This seems to make the most sense - but I could also see the S using the 3.6L and the GTS using a de-tuned 4.0L. We'll see.
Hmm an S car under 400 HP?.. I'd probably leave the brand if they did that.. I expect power bumps of at least 30-50 HP for every model in the range. Going down in power would be a bad thing IMO

I think a reduction in horsepower is very unlikely, Porsche typically increases moderately.
I expect the S with 430ish, GTS in a few years with 450 and PTT 550ish

Good points. I was really basing this on the current Macan performance levels but a reduction in power for the S makes no sense. I'll revise my 'gut guess'.

I keep hearing the GTS will stay N/A with a V8. I'd expect a 4.0 liter V8 with about 450 hp, and decreased weight.
For the GTS they may go back to spring suspension, and lowered with PASM.

Having a NA engine in the lineup would be fantastic. Out of curiosity, where are you hearing this?

The rumor mill is always turning... I've seen a few mentions over the past couple of weeks that the second generation Panamera will be offered in coupe form a couple of years after it is introduced (so a 2019 or 2020 model):
read:http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...revival-rumor/

It does seem to make sense - it could compete with the BMW 6-series and MB S-Class coupe, for example.

They did a really nice job on the reworked roof line - it is (or seems) much more raked than the current generation - I suppose it is meant to emulate the 911 roof line. I wonder what it does to interior space, particularly in the rear and in the hatch area, although it is possible that the new roofline is higher than current, allowing for the more aggressive rake.

Looks like the rear overhang is shorter too.

4 liter NA with 450 hp and lighter body sounds about right for next GTS, although if past is any indication it probably will be at least a model year after new body, probably two years. By then the Mission E will be available and as much as I like my '16 PGTS I may go EV for DD and get my thrills with a 991.2 GT3 MT. Kind if bratty, but why not?
