I ve also had the emergency brake come on when backing up on a slight hill???? Don t know how but I never touched the e brake switch.
Our cars have dual clutch system, not an automatic gear box. The car is disengaging the clutch, so it must use the brake to prevent you from rolling.

im not sure that's correct... i thought that it's just a comfort feature so you don't have to hold the break on a slope.

It is. Think about having a regular stick shift. What would you be doing on a hill? With PDK it has two clutches and works the brake for you. That's what the HOLD is about.

wow, good answer. Makes me wonder if that clutch transmission is what I feel differently when engaging reverse. Don t want to say its slow to engage and slips but it does feel more like a clutch than an auto trans...
