13 GTS Startup ECU Mapping

Hi All,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I appreciate all the great info guys share here and I've learned a lot and love the car. So my question is one I'm sure no Porche guy asked, ever, and I may have to turn in my man card but here it goes.

When I start the car it revs to about 2500 rpm and is quite frankly a bit obnoxiously loud. Due to the location of my garage, neigbors, and kids room it's too loud as I often leave for work in the middle of the night and wake everyone. Not to mention I look like a juvenile when starting it up anywhere else. I know it doesn't have to rev/start so loudly since when it restarts using the auto restart function it restarts like a normal car.

So my question is does everyone else with a GTS experience the same thing and can the ECU be reprogram to not rev so much on the initial start? Thx in advance.

No you cant , its called cold start . It is done to get the cats and oils to the required temperature . How about using some kind of sound insulation for the walls ?

I guess I should clarify a bit. It initially revs to about 2500 rpm with a loud exhaust note but then back down to the normal 800-900 rpm immediately. It does this during a cold start AND when the engine is warmed up when starting with the key fob (I don't have entry and drive). But the auto stop/restart is normal. It's almost as if the programmed it to intentionally have a high/loud rev at start up. Anyway, thx for the reply.

This is normal. Should have gotten the turbo or base :-) I love this feature, I'll admit you get looks sometimes but usually it's a thumbs up.

+1 on insulation or you could add some resonators or restricting mufflers. Maybe you can remove the feature with a tune of some sort....

Smile

Don't get me wrong I love the GTS and the sports exhaust! Didn't want the turbo (I'm old school NA all the way) and what's the point of a base model. I just wish there was a way to start it like the luxury car it is, then hit the sport button to unleash the beast.
