2014 vs 2012

Hi guys,
I'm looking to get rid of my 2003 911 Targa for a Panamera.
Would you guys recommend a Certified 2014 Panamera 4 V6? Or a 2012-2013 or so 4S or S V8?
I like it being certified and very clean, but really wanted a v8?
I'm torn? I'm not a hard fast driver or anything I just want a nice sounding exhaust note. Maybe change the exhaust on the '14? But looking for pros and cons on the 2 engines.
Thanks everyone

i really think this comes down to personal preference and maybe the addition of an extended warranty. the 6 will not sound like the 8 and the 8 does sound fantastic. i doubt you'd ever get a sound from the 6 that made you as happy. the power is there, but i made a similar choice early on and decided to go with an 8 - added up going even beyond that in the end and wound up with a turbo, but that's just me. if you want certified, why not consider a warranty? i don't put much stock in the 'certified' part, it's about the coverage. i bought a warranty for my turbo and chose this car over a CPO car from a porsche dealer. if you really want the 8, get the 8 and the PSE or add an exhaust,

Small Car Lover will become famous soon enough
The na base V6 is a nice little engine. I has a little bit of snarl when it gets revved hard even without the sport exhaust. I was surprised with how much character it had, being the base engine. You will likely be revving it as it doesn't have an overabundance of power to manage the weight of the car. I feel it has a more character than the turbo v6 in the'14-'16 S and 4s cars. That motor is very quiet and smooth. It just stays in the background and gets the job done with no fuss. Much more power end torque than the base v6. The base motor has to be pressed a bit and it likes to be revved. In some ways I found the base motor more fun than the turbo v6 in the S. The 970 was refreshed in 2014 and these cars have a number of additional features and the PDK programming was refined and operates smother. The 4.8 liter V8 is a wonderful engine. In the GTS it's a rip snorting beast and I'm sure a S with the PSE would be lots of fun as well. A GTS starts with a loud enough bark that it will turn heads in a parking lot.

You will have to decide if you want the v8 motor of the 970.1 S or the upgrades and newer features of the 970.2 base car. The base cars can be a really great value on the used market. I would fault no one for buying a nicely optioned base and driving the wheels off it. It's a LOT of car for the money.

LouDA is on a distinguished road
Same as the above really - the v6 is a fantastic engine but nothing really compares to the snarl of the v8. I tried both a fair bit before pulling the trigger and, as was also mentioned, CPO is good but it is more for peace of mind - could get the same with a full checkover prior to purchase and buying an additional warranty.

My vote is and will always be for the v8 😁

A V8 Panamera is the cats meow. You won't have to make up stories as to why you have a V6!
